I'm about half way through this book. It's written by a pastor and most of the story focuses on his friend(who became a pastor) who had been involved in freemasonry for years before coming to know Jesus. It goes through his story about how he became a freemason, and ascending through all the levels of freemasonry, including all of the blue degrees, the scottish rite, shrine masonry, and eventually the 33rd degree.
The reader is taken through all of the major ceremonies. It's very easy to understand that while the lower blue degrees are presented as being "not in conflict with christianity" and even "a mirror of christianity", you can quickly understand that it is a purposeful deception and that freemasonry at ALL LEVELS is completely incompatable with christianity. One of their doctrines is that Jesus was just a man and was NOT the Son of God. They specifically act as though ALL RELIGIONS are good, and that to say that ANY RELIGION is bad is wrong. You also quickly get the feeling that most freemasons stay at the lower blue levels, and never go far enough to see all of the really bad things that would conflict majorly with christianity. Shriner freemasonry uses ceremonies based on ISLAM.
The biggest difference is the obviously incorrect view that someone can WORK THEIR WAY TO HEAVEN. They believe that by working and do good things, that they will end up either in heaven or reincarnated. It's ridiculous.
Very good book so far though. Much of it is reprinted from 2 earlier books that are now out of print, so it's possible some of you may already know the story itself.
