Glad you asked! Brock and Bodie Thoene wrote an outstanding couple of series of historic fiction. The Zion Chronicles (a set of five books) are about the infancy of Israel; The Zion Covenant books (six of them) are about the events leading to and taking place during WW II, with an emphasis on the Holocaust. Another series - The Shiloh Legacy - is set in the depression, and is also excellent. I love war novels, and these were terrific.
The books are impeccably researched by Brock Thoene, and the characters are so real that I remember them as well as I do old friends, and I read the books almost 20 years ago - they truly are unforgettable. So much "Christian" fiction is pap; I would hold Bodie's writing up against any best-selling author out there.
Unfortunately I sold my copies on eBay when I moved to Hawaii, but you can get each of the books used very cheaply on Amazon - they're cheaper if you get them individually, rather than as a set. Just make sure you read them in order. Your local library might also have them.
