Bernie declares eating $120k duct-taped bananas a human right to be paid for by government

Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan recently sold a banana duct-taped to a white wall for $120,000 at Miami’s Art Basel museum, only to be eaten by a performance artist in an event entitled, “Hungry Artist.”

Many have lambasted the destruction of the fine art, but socialist presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders has come to the man’s defense.



“He was hungry and so he ate the art. That’s his right,” Sanders said in a press conference. “In fact, when I’m president, I’m going to ensure that every American has the right to eat $120,000 bananas duct-taped to the wall.”



When asked where the money would come for to pay for so many expensive bananas, Sanders replied, “We will simply need to tax productive members of society to pay this artist $120,000 for every banana that someone eats. It’s a human right. You cannot keep food from people.”
