The Vatican has reported its first case of coronavirus today - days after Pope Francis tested negative for the virus.



The discovery brings the epidemic to the city-state surrounded by Italy, which has confirmed more than 3,800 cases and 148 deaths due to the virus.



Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni said the new case was diagnosed on Thursday and that services in Vatican clinics had been suspended in order to deep clean the areas.



Bruni gave no details on whether the person who tested positive was a Vatican employee living in Italy or was among the few clergy and guards who live inside its walls.



Pope Francis himself tested negative for the virus after suffering from a cold last week. Today his official Twitter account said he wishes to 'express my closeness to those who are ill with the coronavirus'.



The Vatican has also put another official into protective quarantine and shut the doors of its Apostolic Library to guard against the spread of the virus.

Or is it another ploy to keep the Coronavirus story at the forefront of the news?  As I said in another thread, they're pushing their agenda and it's gotten to a point of being such overkill that is almost laughable.  Don't get me wrong, my heart goes out to whose who are really sick and dying, and I do pray for them, but the amount of news being devoted to this story is far more than the number of cases warrants.

A desperate rescue attempt is underway to save 30 people still trapped in a collapsed five-star hotel China.



Xinjia Hotel in Quanzhou City was recently converted to a quarantine facility for people who had recent contact with coronavirus patients, the People's Daily state newspaper reported.



A video stream posted by the government-backed Beijing News site showed rescue workers in orange overalls clambering over rubble and twisted steelwork carrying people towards ambulances.



The 80-room hotel collapsed at around 7.30pm (11.30am GMT) and at least 23 people had been rescued by 9pm, according to a local government statement.



'I was at a gas station and heard a loud noise. I looked up and the whole building collapsed. Dust was everywhere, and glass fragments were flying around,' a witness said in a video posted on the Miaopai streaming app.



'I was so terrified that my hands and legs were shivering.'

Italy has placed up to 16 million people under quarantine as it battles to contain the spread of coronavirus.



Anyone living in Lombardy and 14 other central and northern provinces will need special permission to travel. Milan and Venice are both affected.



Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte also announced the closure of schools, gyms, museums, nightclubs and other venues across the whole country.



The measures, the most radical taken outside China, will last until 3 April.



Italy has seen the largest number of coronavirus infections in Europe, with the number of confirmed cases jumping by more than 1,200 to 5,883 on Saturday.



Among the latest people to test positive is the army's chief of staff. Salvatore Farina said he felt well and was self-isolating.



The strict new quarantine measures affect a quarter of the Italian population and centre on the rich northern part of the country that powers its economy.



The death toll in Italy has passed 230, with officials reporting more than 36 deaths in 24 hours.

The health system is under immense strain in Lombardy, a northern region of 10 million people, where people are being treated in hospital corridors.



"We want to guarantee the health of our citizens. We understand that these measures will impose sacrifices, sometimes small and sometimes very big," Prime Minister Conte said as he announced the measures in the middle of the night.


Under the new measures, people are not supposed to be able to enter or leave Lombardy, where Milan is the main city.



The same restrictions apply to 14 provinces: Modena, Parma, Piacenza, Reggio Emilia, Rimini, Pesaro and Urbino, Alessandria, Asti, Novara, Verbano Cusio Ossola, Vercelli, Padua, Treviso and Venice.



"There will be no movement in or out of these areas, or within them, unless for proven work-related reasons, emergencies or health reasons," Mr Conte told reporters.



"We are facing an emergency, a national emergency. We have to limit the spread of the virus and prevent our hospitals from being overwhelmed."

Pope Francis has delivered Sunday prayers by livestream in a bid to control crowds as the coronavirus death toll in Italy rose to 233, with more than 5,800 cases reported, making Italy Europe’s worst-hit country.



Italian officials on Saturday said the number of coronavirus cases leapt by more than 1,200 in a 24-hour period, with the death toll rising to 233, as Italy reported the most deaths outside China, where the epidemic emerged in December.



Entire towns are quarantined in the north, the worst-hit area, known as “red zones”. The Italian government is set to adopt new tough measures to contain the virus, including a quarantine on the entire Lombardy region around Milan as well as areas around and including Venice and the northern cities of Parma and Rimini, Italian media reported Saturday.



A draft of the government resolution obtained by Italy's Corriere Della Sera newspaper and other media said movement into and out of the regions would be severely restricted until April 3.



As the streets of Rome and several northern cities in the worst-hit areas emptied due to stringent isolation measures, Pope Francis decided to deliver Sunday's prayer by livestream.



The 83-year-old pontiff broke with centuries of tradition by enlisting the help of technology to keep crowds from descending on St. Peter's Square for the traditional Angelus Prayer.



"The prayer will be broadcast via livestream by Vatican News and on screens in Saint Peter's Square," the Vatican said in a statement.



It had originally promised to review the Argentine-born pope's schedule "to avoid the dissemination" of the new COVID-19 disease.



The Vatican appears to believe that the pope's absence from his traditional spot at the window will keep the crowds on the vast square down and the threat of contagion low.



The Vatican is in the process of unrolling unprecedented health precautions designed to keep the city-state's 450 mostly elderly residents safe.



It recorded its first COVID-19 infection on Thursday and was awaiting the results of a test on another person who appeared at a Vatican-organised event last month.



Coalition leader gets virus



The Italian government finds itself at the forefront of the global fight against an epidemic that has convulsed the markets and paralysed global supply chains since late last year.



Ministers decided at an all-night emergency meeting to call in retired doctors as part of an effort to bolster the strained healthcare system with 20,000 additional staff.



The head of the Italian ruling coalition's junior partner became the latest high-profile figure to confirm coming down with the new disease.



"I am fine," the Democratic Party's Nicola Zingaretti said on Facebook. "I will have to stay home for the next few days."



The accelerating spread of the illness emptied Italian train stations and turned usually thronged parts of Rome into a ghost town.



Many of the city's outdoor restaurants and cafes were either closed on Friday night or had free tables overseen by forlorn staff with little to do but chat.



The expansive street that runs from Rome's Colosseum along the Forum was deserted and the magnificent ruins stood in their natural splendour – and without being swarmed by tourists – on a sunny Saturday afternoon.



US military sailor confirmed with coronavirus in Italy



A US sailor deployed to the southern Italian city of Naples tested positive for the coronavirus, the US military said on Saturday, in the second confirmed case among US forces following another in South Korea.



“The member is currently restricted to their residence, receiving supportive and medical care in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control,” the military’s European Command said in a statement.



“Military health professionals are conducting a thorough contact investigation to determine whether any other personnel may have been exposed,” it said.

“At the moment we’re getting well over a billion requests per day — or interactions with this dashboard on a daily basis. It’s gone viral on almost every social media channel that exists,” Gardner said.

It doesn’t even rank in the Top 20 diseases killing people in the United States or anywhere else around the globe, yet somehow the world is going coronavirus crazy as our new international obsession. Case in point is the new website from Johns Hopkins University that is currently getting over one billion requests, or hits, per day. Ironically, when you view the infection rate, the mortality rate and the recovery rate, it is actually quite comforting.

Why do I say it’s comforting? Simple, look at it. The green line representing the recovery rate is actually spiking sharper than the infection rate, which means that it is nowhere near as scary as we have been led to believe it is. And the mortality rate, the number of people dying from it, is hovering around 3%, roughly the same as people who die from the flu. So why is everyone so freaked out about the coronavirus?





We live in a time when a spirit of fear, an end times spirit, is rising rapidly, causing people to take their eyes off of God and on the world with its myriad issues and problems. The rising spirit is preparing the way for the soon arrival of Antichrist who will come on the scene after the Pretribulation Rapture of the Church takes place. Born again Christians need not fear the outbreak of the coronavirus or any other disease for that matter. Our lives are not our own, we’ve been bought with a price, and it is the Lord who decides how and when each one of us will exit this world. Wash your hands, stay away from sick people, get your rest, eat right and drink lots of pure water. Put your faith in God, and not in the fear of man.



Johns Hopkins Launches Coronavirus Website: More than 1 Billion Requests a Day

FROM BREITBART NEWS: Johns Hopkins University experts held a press briefing on Friday on Capitol Hill to discuss efforts to confront coronavirus as it spreads around the globe, including the launch of a website with an interactive dashboard that collects data worldwide about the virus, including data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).



Lauren Gardner, co-director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, led the team that designed the dashboard, which has a wide range of always-updating data, from the number of confirmed cases (105,559), the number of deaths from the virus (3,555), the number of people who have recovered (58,354) and cases by region and country.

Gardner said that statistics about users of the dashboard shows that the public is mostly using it “looking for reliable, factual information.” But local, state and federal governments, public health agencies — “and pretty much everything in between” are also using it, Gardner said.

Panelists called for public calm and warned about the danger of misinformation that is pumped out daily online, including on social media, where Pekosz said health experts have been engaging in conversations to try to get the facts out.



Inglesby said there remains “substantial work” that still needs to be done to make the U.S. health infrastructure capable of handling the virus. And, according to Ingelsby, a vaccine that can be made available widely to the public is still 12 to 18 months out.



The panel distributed literature that included tips to stop the spread of the virus, including avoiding contact with people who are sick; coughing into a tissue and disposing of the tissue properly; avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth; clean and disinfect objects and surfaces; stay home when sick except to seek medical help; and wash your hands with soap frequently for at least 20 seconds.

Iran estimates that 40% of its residents residing in the country’s capital, Tehran, will be infected with the Coronavirus within just two weeks

The Islamic Republic has already begun taking steps such as eliminating Friday prayers, shutting down tourist attractions and canceling New Year’s celebrations. These are just a few of the initiatives that the government is taking in Tehran to contain the virus’s reach.



Iranian authorities stated that 107 people died from the virus. However, unofficial reports are claiming that 450 have died from the pandemic. Reports came out roughly two weeks ago that Friday prayers in major cities in the Islamic Republic were canceled. Last Friday there were no prayers at any mosques.



Mohammed Jawad Hajj Ali Akbari, chairman of the Imams Public Policy Council on Friday, explained that the decision was made in accordance with the guidelines of the Corona National Commission. But despite the decree, several Imams and clerics in the cities of Mashhad and Qum blasted the decision opposing its implementation. They attacked the quarantine of the ‘holy’ city of Qom, a Shiite stronghold.



Iran has been blamed for spreading the Coronavirus has spread to other Muslim and Arab countries. Cases of infection have been discovered in Iraq, Lebanon, and Syria, which Iranian citizens frequent. Other cases were discovered in Jordan, Egypt, and the Gulf states.

Italy Extends Its Quarantine to the Entire Country, Prime Minister Says

Italy’s Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced that starting Tuesday, the entire country will be placed under lockdown to combat the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus—an expansion of a lockdown that was previously limited to the virus-hit north.



The restrictions will include banning all public gatherings while preventing movement other than for work and emergencies, he said.



Such a drastic measure is necessary to protect Italy’s most vulnerable citizens, including elderly people and individuals with underlying health problems, said Conte, adding that the right course of action is to remain at home, according to ANSA.



There has been a significant increase in deaths and patients in intensive care, and as a result, Italians’ “habits must be changed now,” Conte said. “We must all give up something for the good of Italy” and “we must do it immediately and we will only succeed if we will all work together and adapt to these stricter standards,” he said, adding: “Stay at home.”



Conte said there is no reason for sporting events and large public gatherings to continue amid the outbreak in Europe’s worst-hit nation. The country reported nearly 100 deaths on Monday, bringing the total to 463, while nearly 8,000 cases have been confirmed, according to ANSA.



“There won’t be just a red zone,” Conte told reporters in reference to the lockdown in areas in northern Italy over the weekend. Italy will be “a protected area,” he added.



Inmates at more than two dozen Italian prisons rioted against restrictions on family visits and other containment measures, and six died after they broke into the infirmary and overdosed on anti-psychotic medicine.



Global oil prices suffered their worst percentage losses since the start of the 1991 Gulf War, and U.S. stocks dropped so quickly in the first few minutes after markets opened that it triggered a 15-minute halt in trading. At the Milan Stock Exchange, investors’ fears drove stocks down by 11 percent.

“Now that the virus has a foothold in so many countries, the threat of a pandemic has become very real,” said World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. “The great advantage we have is the decisions we all make as governments, businesses, communities, families and individuals can influence the trajectory of this epidemic.”



Israel will now quarantine anyone who is arriving overseas for 14 days, said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. According to a map from Johns Hopkins, 39 people are confirmed to have COVID-19, which includes symptoms including a fever, cough, shortness of breath, and other respiratory issues.



“After a day of complex discussions, we have made a decision: Whoever arrives in Israel from abroad will enter quarantine for 14 days,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video statement on Monday. “This is a difficult decision but it is essential to maintaining public health, which takes precedence over everything.”



The virus emerged late last year in Wuhan, China.

The state-run Islamic Republic News Agency, or IRNA, reported Tuesday that 44 people had died from alcohol poisoning in the country after they "drank bootleg alcohol over rumors that it would be effective in treating coronavirus.” But the semi-independent Mehr News Agency reported a lower figure – at least 27 people dying in Iran from alcohol poisoning amid the coronavirus scare.

People reportedly were drinking bootleg alcohol made from methanol, which is found in antifreeze, solvent and fuel, in a failed attempt to prevent infection. That kind is far more toxic than ethanol, the kind of alcohol safe to drink.



More than two hundred people were hospitalized in the southwestern province of Khuzestan after drinking bootleg alcohol, Ali Ehsanpour, a spokesman for Ahwaz University of Medical Sciences, told Mehr News Agency, according to ABC News.



Most of the deaths from alcohol poisoning occurred in this region, IRNA reported, according to CBS News. Meanwhile, 18 people died after becoming ill with the actual COVID-19 virus in the same Khuzestan province. Additional alcohol poisoning deaths were recorded in the northern region of Alborz and in the western region of Kermanshah.



The Iranian Health Ministry announced Tuesday that a total of 8,042 people contracted the novel coronavirus since the outbreak in the country, according to Tasnim News Agency, a private news agency in Iran. It added that 2,731 individuals in that group have since recovered.


The health ministry recorded 54 additional people died from the virus as of Tuesday, raising Iran’s death toll to 291.



Also Tuesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping visited the city of Wuhan, the epicenter of the coronavirus located in the Hubei province, for the first time since the outbreak began. The entire country of Italy, the worst-hit nation after China, placed its entire population under lockdown to curb the spread of the virus.

A priest who shook hands with hundreds of worshippers has been diagnosed with the coronavirus , putting several hundred people at risk.



Reverend Timothy Cole, of Christ Church in Washington DC, the US, was diagnosed with the COVID-19 strain on Saturday – the first confirmed case in the city.



All worshippers who attended the church on February 24 or in between February 28 and March have been asked to self-quarantine for two weeks.



Those who came into contact with the reverend, who has been a rector of the Christ Church since 2016, are said to be at "medium risk."



It has been estimated that "several hundred people were impacted and had interactions" with Reverend Cole.


According to the Mirror, parishioners received an email in which he wrote: "First, I want to assure you that I will be OK. I am receiving excellent care and am in good spirits under the circumstances.



"I will remain quarantined for the next 14 days as will the rest of my family."



In the US, there are currently 647 cases of coronavirus.


All worshippers who attended the church on February 24 or in between February 28 and March have been asked to self-quarantine 

The symptoms to watch out for are a cough, high temperature and shortness of breath, according to the NHS .



Coronavirus infects the lungs and symptoms may start with a fever which is followed by a dry cough. This can lead to breathing problems.



However, most people who get sick with the respiratory virus will recover.

The World Health Organization has said that the spread of Covid-19 around the world has reached the stage where it can be described as a pandemic.

At Wednesday’s daily coronavirus briefing WHO director-general, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, revealed that there are now more than 118,000 cases in 114 countries around the world, and 4,291 people have lost their lives due to the disease.



“Pandemic is not a word to use lightly or carelessly. It is a word that, if misused, can cause unreasonable fear, or unjustified acceptance that the fight is over, leading to unnecessary suffering and death,” the director-general said.

“Describing the situation as a pandemic does not change WHO’s assessment of the threat posed by this coronavirus. It doesn’t change what WHO is doing, and it doesn’t change what countries should do,” he added.



Tedros said that some countries are struggling to tackle the spread of the Covid-19 illness due to a lack of capacity but others are struggling because of a lack of resolve.



The health chief said that swift action from authorities can prevent larger clusters of cases and community transmission and even if they fail to do so “they can turn the tide”. He called on governments to change the course of the outbreak by taking "urgent and aggressive action".

Mr Trudeau's wife, Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau, began to show mild symptoms of illness late on Wednesday after a speaking engagement in the UK.



The couple are staying home until the tests results are returned. Mr Trudeau is not exhibiting any symptoms.



There are currently approximately 103 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Canada.



Meetings postponed

Under his doctor's advice, he is continuing daily activities while monitoring his health but "out of an abundance of caution" he is working from home, the statement said.



Mr Trudeau was scheduled to hold meetings over the next two days in Ottawa with provincial premiers and First Nations leaders.



Those meetings have been postponed.



Mr Trudeau will now be speaking with those provincial counterparts over the phone, with the topic focusing on Canada's response to the pandemic, said the prime minister's office in a statement on Thursday morning.



Mrs Gregoire-Trudeau began to show mild flu-like symptom including a low fever on late on Wednesday night after returning from London. Her symptoms have since subsided.



"The prime minister will spend the day in briefings, phone calls and virtual meetings from home including speaking with other world leaders and joining the special Covid-19 cabinet committee discussion," his office said.



Another federal party leader, the NDP's Jagmeet Singh, said on Thursday he was also staying at home because he was feeling unwell, though doctors have told him that his symptoms are not consistent with the coronavirus.



"Their advice is for me to limit contact with the public until I am feeling better," he said on Twitter.



What is the situation in Canada?

There are currently approximately 103 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Canada, in the provinces of British Columbia, Ontario, Alberta, Quebec, and Manitoba. There has been one death linked to the disease.


Canada announced on Wednesday a C$1bn ($728m; £562m) coronavirus response fund to deal with the pandemic.



The funding package will help the country address the domestic impact of the virus and to support further research, including vaccine development.



Mr Trudeau said his government was ready to do more if the situation warranted.



Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, the prime minister urged Canadians to follow the recommendations of public health officials in order to help slow the spread of the disease and to avoid overburdening the health care system.

Iran’s coronavirus burial pits are so vast they’re visible from space

Two days after Iran declared its first cases of the novel coronavirus – in what would become one of the largest outbreaks of the illness outside of China – evidence of unusual activity appeared at a cemetery near where the infections emerged.



At the Behesht-e Masoumeh complex in Qom, about 80 miles south of Tehran, the excavation of a new section of the graveyard began as early as Feb. 21, satellite images show, and then rapidly expanded as the virus spread. By the end of the month, two large trenches – their lengths totaling 100 yards – were visible at the site from space.



According to expert analysis, video testimony and official statements, the graves were dug to accommodate the rising number of virus victims in Qom.


Iran, a nation of about 80 million people, has suffered a particularly deadly surge of coronavirus infections, including among its top leadership. Iran’s Health Ministry says that 429 people have died of the virus, which causes the disease known as covid-19, and more than 10,000 have fallen ill. Among the dead are members of parliament, a former diplomat and even a senior adviser to the Supreme Leader. At least two dozen other officials, including a vice president, have been infected.



In Qom, the spiritual center of Iran’s ruling Shiite clerics, more than 846 people have contracted the virus, officials say. Iran’s government has not released an official death toll for Qom, however, where about 1.2 million people live. But videos, satellite images and other open-source data from the cemetery – a vast complex six miles north of the city center – suggest that the number of people struck down by the virus there is significantly higher than the official figure.



A senior imagery analyst at Maxar Technologies in Colorado said the size of the trenches and the speed with which they were excavated together mark a clear departure from past burial practices involving individual and family plots at the site. In addition to satellite imagery, videos posted on social media from the cemetery show the extended rows of graves at Behesht-e Masoumeh and say they are meant for coronavirus victims.


The imagery analyst, who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of his work, also pointed to an image showing what appears to be a large white pile of lime, which can be used to manage decay and odor in mass graves. Iranian health officials have in recent weeks confirmed the use of lime when burying coronavirus victims.



In the following video, shared by the BBC’s Persian service March 3, the narrator describes the scene at Behesht-e Masoumeh cemetery as men carry a casket toward a trench with multiple graves. Qom, like other parts of Iran, is grappling with the coronavirus outbreak that has sickened thousands of people and overwhelmed the public health infrastructure.



“This is the section for coronavirus victims,” the narrator says, as the camera pans across a small portion of the trench, showing mounds of dirt and small, simple markers. People wearing blue protective suits are seen standing nearby. “More than 80 [people] have been buried in this section so far, and they say only 34 deaths,” he says, citing the official death toll on Feb. 28.



Fabian Hinz of the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, who reviewed the preceding video and the one that follows, said that unique geographical markers in the videos match landmarks found near the cemetery.



In the next video, another narrator says that he is at the Behesht-e Masoumeh cemetery on March 3, about two weeks after Iran reported its first cases. By that time, at least 77 people had died of the virus, according to official figures, and more than 2,000 people were infected, though information from Tehran hospitals reviewed by The Washington Post strongly suggests the outbreak is far larger.



“A worker told me that they must have buried more than 250 coronavirus victims so far,” the caption reads. As the narrator walks across the cemetery grounds, he points the camera down to highlight what he says are new burials. “These are all graves and they are fresh,” he says, at one point using a gloved index finger to direct the viewer to the plots on the horizon. “These are all from the last few days,” he continues. “And as you can see, it goes on until the end.”

(TNS) If you ever doubted that Democrats are the party of tyranny, you’re getting to see it first hand, thanks to their over-hyping of the coronavirus outbreak.







Democratic Govs. Jay Inslee of Washington (above) and Kate Brown of Oregon just banned public gatherings of more than 250 people — a direct and blatant violation of the First Amendment’s assembly clause — over a virus that has so far inflicted a fraction of the illnesses and deaths that the influenza virus has inflicted this year alone.

According to Willamette Week:



Oregon Gov. Kate Brown tonight banned large gatherings in Oregon, cancelled all school athletic events, and advised as many people as possible to avoid in-person work meetings, to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.


The governor banned events of more than 250 people—a cap that will cancel St. Patrick’s Day events, rock concerts and athletic tournaments. The ban is effective immediately and lasts four weeks.



Schools remain open. But she cancelled all non-essential school activities, including parent-teacher meetings, field trips and competitions. (As of Thursday night, Portland Public Schools was still planning on holding athletic events, but denying audience admission.) Brown recommended offices limit close contact between workers, and suggested staggered working schedules.



Seattle Weekly adds:



All events with more than 250 people in King County will be prohibited following orders from state and local officials on March 11 in an attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19.



Gov. Jay Inslee announced at a press conference Wednesday morning that all events larger than 250 attendees will be banned in King, Snohomish and Pierce counties through the end of March. He said it will likely be extended beyond that.



It applies to all social gatherings, including church events, concerts and sporting events.



In addition, events smaller than 250 attendees will also be prohibited in King County unless organizers can meet certain criteria for social distancing and COVID-19 screening. County Executive Dow Constantine said he had directed the county’s Public Health Officer Jeff Duchin to sign the measure authorizing the restrictions. The orders went into effect on March 11 and there is no specific end date.

Meanwhile, another Democratic governor, Andrew Cuomo of New York, actually established a “containment zone” — no word yet if Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or Rashida Tlaib have labeled it a ‘concentration camp’ yet — over coronavirus.



New York has 62 cases of the virus statewide. 62. Oregon: 21. Washington state: About 370.



No such actions have been taken for influenza, this year or any previous year. Total influenza cases this year are nearing 50 million, with nearly 600,000 hospitalizations and 20,000 deaths.



Yet, these Democrat governors are banning public events for a handful of coronavirus cases.



If you live in one of these states and are not outraged by this authoritarian lunacy, you should be. This kind of stuff should never happen in America. Not for an outbreak this minor.

Democratic Governor Calls for Churches To Cancel Services In Response To Coronavirus

Democratic Governor Andy Beshear warned Kentuckians on Wednesday that in order to combat the spread of the coronavirus, they should avoid crowds and cancel their church services.



Citing the need to protect the health of members and those who have underlying medical conditions, he urged churches not to gather on the Lord’s day, but rather to stay home.



Beshear elaborated that of the eight people who tested positive for COVID-19 in Kentucky so far, two of them attended the same church together and that contracting the virus in this setting was the impetus for urging church gatherings to be postponed.



“I know it is a big step, but I can tell you the direct connection between at least two Harrison County residents is that they go to Church together…. we would not be suggesting that these services should be canceled if we did not believe this coronavirus can be or is currently being spread in those areas…I know that’s a big step, I know that some people won’t agree with it, but I believe it’s our job to offer those protections.”



According to the Pew Research Center, About 40% of Kentuckians surveyed in 2014 stated they attended church services least once a week, and this would ostensibly affect hundreds of thousands of people. Governor Beshear elaborated more on this in his press conference, saying:



“So I’ll announce today that we’re going to cancel the prayer breakfast now that we were gonna have this week. You know, faith is very important to make… this prayer breakfast is very important to make, but the life and health of our people is more… is just as important to make. I don’t believe that whether you go to church during this period of time is a test of faith. I believe God gives us wisdom to protect each other, and we should do that. And I’m going to recommend that our churches across Kentucky cancel their services for this weekend. Again I know that that’s a big step. I know that some won’t agree with it, but I believe that it’s our job to offer those protections that we have a lot of opportunity for virtual service’s. I know those out there that that that that would otherwise go have an opportunity to get out that Bible Lord or whatever it is of their faith that gives them guidance and ensure that they have that time with their family this weekend where in their own home they can they can practice their faith and worship. “



While churches are urged close this weekend, there is no indication that this would be the only church service the government would want to be canceled, given that the spread of the virus is just beginning and likely more deaths will arise. It’s not unthinkable that they will ask the assembly of believers to abstain from services for much longer than that. In response to this message, many churches will likely choose to be canceled for weeks, if not months to come.



Several demonic denominations such as the Episcopal Church in Washington and Virginia have already indicated that they will close for several weeks. According to the Washington Post: “Bishop Mariann Budde, who oversees 88 congregations in the District and Maryland that serve about 38,000 people, said buildings would be almost completely closed until March 25, including weekday activities and Sunday services. Bishop Susan Goff, who oversees the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia, said 179 churches in the Virginia suburbs, with about 68,000 members, would do the same.”



As far as his own religious affiliations and how this might affect the Governor, Bashear has stated his own church services will be canceled. Incidentally, or perhaps tellingly, he attends and is a deacon at Beargrass Christian Church, which is part of the the Disciples of Christ denomination



As you might imagine of a church that a democrat governor may be welcomed and asked to serve, their website states they are proud of their



-willingness not to tolerate, but to welcome and celebrate differences.

-emphasis on Christian living that is descriptive, rather than a harsh, legalistic approach.

-ecumenical integrity that allows for an open, inclusive, and pluralistic approach to religion and life.

-belief that consensus is in the person of Christ and not to the conformity of doctrine or creed.



To say that they affirm homosexuality and abortion should go without saying.



If they choose to voluntarily shut down, perhaps some good may come of this yet.

Italians with coronavirus symptoms could face murder charges if they venture outside despite the quarantine and cause a patient's death.



Suspected virus patients have been ordered to stay indoors with a penalty of 206 euros (£182) over their heads - but they could face far graver charges if they infect someone on their travels.



The most severe charge of 'malicious murder' could lead to a prison sentence as long as 21 years, according to Italian media, while virus spreaders could still be charged with misconduct even if no-one is killed.



'If I am infected, I know I am, and I look for contact with other people regardless of the possibility of transmitting the infection, then the crime of injury occurs,' lawyer Franco Coppi told the Corriere della Sera newspaper.



Italian media compared the possible charges to penalties for spreading HIV by deliberately having unprotected sex - a charge which led to one man being jailed for 24 years in one case in Rome in 2017.



It came as Italy shut down all shops except for pharmacies and food stores today as the country entered day three of its unprecedented nationwide lockdown.



Prime minister Giuseppe Conte announced the latest wave of restrictions in a prime-time address last night with bars, pubs and restaurants shut down for two weeks.



'Thank you to all Italians who make sacrifices. We are proving to be a great nation,' Conte said in his nine-minute address to the nation.



The quarantine is in place until at least April 3, but top health official Walter Ricciardi told Italian TV today that his countrymen should prepare for a 'long war' against the virus.



Italian cities are becoming 'unrecognisable' with the famous piazzas in Rome, Florence and Venice empty except for sanitation workers spraying them with disinfectant.



The death toll yesterday jumped by 196, reaching 827, while the number of cases rose to 12,462 from a previous 10,149 in the world's worst outbreak outside China.



Meanwhile, time is running out for Britons to return home from Italy with the last flights departing tomorrow night, neighbouring countries shutting their borders and a Rome airport closing tomorrow.

Panicked New Yorkers rushed to stock up on essentials forming long lines and clearing shelves of produce as Mayor Bill de Blasio declared a state of emergency in the city due the coronavirus outbreak.



He made the decision on Thursday afternoon saying the last 24 hours had been 'very, very sobering' and that the world had been turned 'upside down' in just a day.



The announcement immediately sparked furious panic shopping from New Yorkers as grocery stores across the city saw chaos and frantic stockpiling with residents fearing the worst.



De Blasio attempted to calm the panic, asking for a stop in the spread of misinformation and stating that Manhattan would not be quarantined.

Round and round it goes, where it stops, nobody knows. Just high high will COVID-19 coronavirus mania go until logic and reason are restored? If present trends continue, sky-high to the first, and not likely anytime soon to the second. In Rome, all Catholic churches have been ordered to be closed until further notice, at least until the beginning of April. That should give you a little clue to just how widespread this pandemic of fear has become.



“And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.” Luke 21:25,26 (KJB)



The verses you see above will be fulfilled during the time of the Great Tribulation, the second half of the time of Jacob’s trouble. Why are men’s hearts failing them “for fear”? Because they have no relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, and they are terrified. Are you terrified of the nascent COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak? The global media says you should be, the bible says you shouldn’t be, if you have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.

What am I doing to prepare? Not anything different than I do every cold and flu season. I am trying to get good rest, drink lots of pure water, eat healthy food, and I have increased my intake of vitamins especially C. I am taking between 4-6,000 mgs of vitamin C every day now. Why? Because I don’t want to get sick with anything, including the coronavirus, but let me tell you a hard truth that you need to hear right now. Either you trust Jesus Christ, or you don’t. If you don’t trust Him, start panicking. If you do trust Him, start acting like it.

As I sit writing this article, my youngest daughter Megan who just got back from a week-long stay in New Zealand, Facetimed me to say she has a spiking fever, chills, and many of the other symptoms of COVID-19, and is going to go and be tested for coronavirus in the morning. She spent a combined 26 hours on an international flight, and came in contact with dozens and dozens of mask-wearing Chinese in the airports. Could she be infected? She sure could be, we will find out in the morning. If she is, what will we do? Trust in the Lord, eat right, get lots of rest, tons of vitamins, you know the drill. Our faith doesn’t exist in words only, we need action as well. Why do we crumble so quickly whenever the Lord sends us a test? 🤔 All you “super saints” who tell me constantly that you are ready to “go through the Tribulation” for the Lord, here’s your chance. Let’s see how you do with the coronavirus, let’s see how brave you are.

Rome Catholic churches closed due to coronavirus, unprecedented decision


FROM THE JERUSALEM POST: The decree by Cardinal Angelo De Donatis, Pope Francis’ vicar for the Rome archdiocese, will remain in effect until at least April 3. Rome’s Catholic churches were ordered closed on Thursday because of the coronavirus pandemic, in a moved believed to be unprecedented in modern times.



Previously, only Masses had been canceled because of the outbreak. The decree also dispenses Catholics in the Rome archdiocese from their obligation to attend Mass on Sunday’s and on what are known as Holy Days of Obligation.



The decree allows a relatively smaller number of oratories in convents and monasteries to remain open. The move follows a decision by the Italian government on Wednesday night to close virtually every commercial activity in Italy apart from pharmacies, food shops and other stores selling essential goods.

Denmark locks down ENTIRE COUNTRY in response to coronavirus pandemic

In a surprise announcement, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen of Denmark said the country is imposing a lockdown to contain its rapidly rising number of coronavirus cases. Frederiksen made the announcement during a press conference on Wednesday.



According to Frederiksen, public sector employees who do not perform critical functions will be sent home on paid leave, while those who are employed in the private sector will be encouraged to work from home.



All schools and universities in the Scandinavian nation will also be shut down, Frederiksen said during her address.



In addition, Frederiksen also imposed restrictions on events, with local media reporting that events seen to attract more than 100 participants will be banned — a major decrease compared to the original limit of 1,000.



“We need to limit activity in society as much as possible, without letting our society grind to a halt,” Frederiksen said.



According to Frederiksen, their decision to enact strict impositions and tough measures will have a significant impact on their economy.



“We will not get through this as a country without a cost. Businesses will suffer losses and people will lose their jobs. The government will do what it can to help,” Frederiksen said, noting that their current situation necessitated the enactment of such measures.



“Under normal circumstances, a government would not present such far-reaching measures without having all the solutions ready for the many Danes concerned, but we are in an extraordinary situation,” Frederiksen stated.



“This will have huge consequences, but the alternative would be far worse,” she said, adding that those who are healthy have a shared responsibility to protect the more vulnerable members of their population.

Those seen to be at high risk for COVID-19 — the disease caused by the new coronavirus which originated from Wuhan in China before spreading across other parts of the world — are those who are aged 60 and above, as well as those with compromised immune systems and chronic illnesses.



Søren Brostrøm, director of The Danish Health Authority, said that he expects the number of cases to increase rapidly in the coming days and weeks.



As of press time, 514 people, of which two are in critical condition, have been confirmed to be infected with the deadly virus as of Wednesday—a ten-fold increase in the figures they posted Monday. According to Health Minister Magnus Heunicke this is the “most dramatic increase seen in Europe”.



Sweden, which is separated from Denmark by the Oresund strait, has around 460 confirmed cases, with its first death reported Wednesday. The country has banned public gatherings of more than 500 people to stop the spread of the disease.



Italy, which has 12,462 confirmed coronavirus infections and 827 deaths—the highest in Europe as of press time—enforced a lockdown, Tuesday. However, following the World Health Organization‘s (WHO) announcement declaring the COVID-19 outbreak as a global pandemic, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has announced that the nation needed to “go another step” further.



Conte, through an announcement made on Facebook, said only pharmacies, groceries and other establishments selling “essential items” will remain open to the public for the entirety of the lockdown. This will be in addition to the existing measures, such as travel restrictions, enforced social distances and mandatory self-isolation for anyone who exhibits flu-like symptoms.



As of press time, the novel coronavirus has infected 126,136 and left 4,630 dead globally.

Liberals across America are furious right now after President Trump knocks out a grand-slam home run in the Rose Garden this afternoon as he announced his plans to deal with the coronavirus. One by one, the president brought to the podium the heads of Walmart, Target, Google, Roche Pharmaceuticals and and many others to unveil a plan that is nothing short of a stroke of genius. What is that, you ask?



The creation of drive-thru testing locations using nasal swabs for any American who thinks they might be sick. No lines in doctors offices, no panics in the ER, just drive to your favorite big box store like Walmart and Target and get tested without ever getting out of your car. Wow, how crazy smart is that? As the president was speaking, the stock mark rose nearly 2,000 points as it became obvious that President Trump was in complete control of the situation, and responding to it vigorously.



The Democrats on Twitter are having a legit meltdown, seems you just can’t stop the Trump Train. Time to pour myself a nice, steaming, hot cup of liberal tears, and laugh my butt off at the hundreds of the bitter, poor loser tweets from the Democrats whose lunch just got eaten. That is all, carry on.

FROM GATEWAY PUNDIT: The Dow Jones Industrial Average was a few hundreds points as Trump, accompanied with CEOs of major businesses like Wal-Mart, Target and others sought to assure Americans that there will be a steady supply of goods for panicked Americans. In just the last few minutes of the markets being opened, the rise in the Dow for the day rose from about 1,100 to nearly 2,000 points.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 1,981 points higher, or 9.4%. The S&P 500 was up 9.2% while the Nasdaq Composite surged 9.3%. The averages posted their biggest one-day gain since October 2008.

Speaking from the Rose Garden, Trump said, “I am officially declaring a national emergency.” He said the presidential directive will make available more than $50 billion for state and local governments to respond to the coronavirus outbreak.



HE ALSO ANNOUNCED A NEW PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP TO EXPAND CORONAVIRUS TESTING CAPABILITIES, AS HIS ADMINISTRATION HAS COME UNDER FIRE FOR BEING TOO SLOW IN MAKING THE TEST AVAILABLE. THE PARTNERSHIP WILL INCLUDE DRIVE-THRU TESTING IN SOME LOCATIONS AND AN ONLINE PORTAL TO SCREEN THOSE SEEKING TO GET TESTED.



STILL, TRUMP SAID THAT OFFICIALS DON’T WANT PEOPLE TAKING THE TEST UNLESS THEY HAVE CERTAIN SYMPTOMS. “IT’S TOTALLY UNNECESSARY,” TRUMP SAID. HE ADDED, “THIS WILL PASS.”



TRUMP SPOKE AS NEGOTIATIONS CONTINUE BETWEEN THE WHITE HOUSE AND CONGRESS ON AN AID PACKAGE, BUT THERE WAS NO ANNOUNCEMENT OF A BREAKTHROUGH, AS HOUSE DEMOCRATS PREPARE TO VOTE ON THEIR OWN MEASURE FRIDAY.

Europe is now the 'epicentre' of coronavirus with more daily cases on the continent than China was suffering at the height of its outbreak, the World Health Organisation said today.



WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus made the stark assessment today as he lamented the 'tragic milestone' of 5,000 global deaths from Covid-19.



He added that Europe now has 'more reported virus cases and deaths than the rest of the world combined, apart from China'.



The claim that Europe is now outpacing China at its peak is particularly striking because the continent's population, at around 740million, is well below China's population of nearly 1.4billion.



'Europe has now become the epicentre of the pandemic,' Tedros told reporters in Geneva today. 'More cases are now being reported every day than were reported in China at the height of its epidemic.'



Tedros did not provide numbers for his comparison with China, but Europe's count has risen by around 16,000 since Monday - an average of 4,000 a day.



At the height of the crisis in China in early February, Beijing health bosses were regularly reporting around 3,000 new infections a day.



Emergency wards have been springing up across Europe as panic spreads across the continent with even France's Emmanuel Macron calling for tougher border controls.



Medics have been working from tents in Italy and Poland with patients placed on temporary beds while they are tested for the virus which has now killed more than 1,200 people in Europe.



In Russia, diggers were working into the night on a new infectious diseases clinic in the village of Babenki - reminiscent of China's hurried hospital construction when the outbreak began.



Moscow mayor Sergey Sobyanin has ordered the facility built, some 40 miles from the capital, even though Russia currently has among the fewest victims among major countries.



France has also vowed to 'massively increase' its hospital capacity, while also trying to contain the virus by banning any gathering of more than 100 people with immediate effect - tightening its earlier 1,000-person limit.



Spain and Bulgaria are both declaring states of emergency, with Spanish police blocking roads out of four quarantined towns near Barcelona today as the death toll reached 120.

Coronavirus in Italy is like ‘a world war’ as death toll soars

Italy recorded 250 coronavirus deaths in a 24-hour period — the most in the country in a single day — as the number of COVID-19 fatalities there reached 1,266, according to official data released Friday.



The country also recorded more than 2,500 new cases of the virus in that period, bringing the total to more than 17,000.



A nurse in northern Italy said that fighting the virus was like being in the middle of “a world war.”



Hospitals like this one in Brescia are packed as Italy battles the scourge, which earlier this week took the life of Dr. Roberto Stella, 67, the head of a medical association in a region heavily hit by the virus.

A student on Staten Island has tested positive for coronavirus but New York mayor Bill de Blasio has no plans to shut the city's schools.



The pupil who attends Intermediate School 27 in the borough had already been off school since he had become sick, however it is not clear if others may also have been exposed at the school based in West Brighton.



I.S. 27 will be deep cleaned over the weekend and is expected to reopen Monday



Two Staten Island public schools were also closed on Friday after a student who goes to both locations also tested positive for COVID-19.



New Dorp High School and the Richard H. Hungerford School are being 'deep cleaned' over the weekend according to the Daily News.
