New Chinese virus 'will have infected hundreds'
By James Gallagher Health and science correspondent 18 January 2020 There were six coronaviruses known to infect people before the latest discovery The number of people already infected by the mystery virus emerging in China is far greater than official figures suggest, scientists have told the BBC. There have been more than 60 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus, but UK experts estimate a figure nearer 1,700. Two people are known to have died from the respiratory illness, which appeared in Wuhan city in December. "I am substantially more concerned than I was a week ago," disease outbreak scientist Prof Neil Ferguson, said. The work was conducted by the MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis at Imperial College London, which advises bodies including the UK government and the World Health Organization (WHO). Mystery Chinese virus: How worried should we be? Singapore and Hong Kong have been screening air passengers from Wuhan, and US authorities announced similar measures starting on Friday at three major airports in San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York. Full article at linkHow were the numbers calculated? The crucial clue to the scale of the problem lies in the cases being detected in other countries. While the outbreak is centred on the central Chinese city of Wuhan, there have been two cases in Thailand and one in Japan. "That caused me to worry," said Prof Ferguson. He added: "For Wuhan to have exported three cases to other countries would imply there would have to be many more cases than have been reported." It is impossible to get the precise number, but outbreak modelling, which is based on the virus, the local population and flight data, can give an idea. Wuhan International Airport serves a population of 19 million people, but only 3,400 a day travel internationally. The detailed calculations, which have been posted online ahead of publication in a scientific journal, came up with a figure of 1,700 cases.

Rapidly spreading: Chinese authorities confirm 136 NEW cases of deadly virus in 2 days
19 Jan, 2020 20:44 / Updated 1 day ago Health officials in Wuhan, China have revealed that 136 new cases of a mysterious new strain of the coronavirus have been diagnosed over just two days, bringing the total in the city to 198. In a statement detailing the latest escalation in figures for the major viral outbreak, Wuhan Municipal Health Commission said a third person has died from the illness, while two more are in critical condition. A further 33 cases among the newly diagnosed patients are classified as “severe.” All of the patients are being kept in isolation. “The first symptoms were mostly fever, cough or chest tightness, and shortness of breath,” the agency said, advising anyone coughing or sneezing to wear a face mask to prevent the spread of germs. “Pay close attention to symptoms such as fever and cough,” they added. “Seek immediate medical attention when such symptoms occur.” Health officials said they’ve been carrying out medical observations on hundreds of people who came into close contact with those diagnosed to date, and no human-to-human transmission has been found. So far, the outbreak appears to be centered on Wuhan, but a small number of cases have been reported outside of China – two in Thailand and one in Japan. link

Passengers at 3 major US airports to be screened for deadly Chinese VIRUS
17 Jan, 2020 20:34 Authorities at major airports in New York and California will screen passengers traveling from the Chinese city of Wuhan gripped by the outbreak of a new deadly pneumonia-like virus, which has since spread to Japan and Thailand. Starting Friday, passengers from Wuhan who arrive at San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles’s main international airports will undergo screening for the symptoms of a novel coronavirus (2019-nCov) that broke out in the Chinese city last month. Officials with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will carry out the checks, along with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents.
The illness was first noticed in Wuhan in December, and is believed to have originated at a seafood and animal market in the city. The CDC states that the virus likely jumped from market animals to humans, and then may have spread between people. 2019-nCov is a flu-like virus that can cause symptoms leading from a severe cold up to pneumonia. Two men in their 60s have died from the disease in Wuhan, with the second passing away on Friday. A man in Japan and a two women in Thailand have also been infected, both having travelled from Wuhan. The CDC deems the threat to the American public to be low, yet says it is taking “proactive preparedness precautions.” link

First case of China-linked coronavirus reported in US, federal officials say
Madeline FarberBy Madeline Farber | Fox News Former CDC chief speaks out on coronavirus risk for the U.S. The first case of the mysterious pneumonia-like virus, which has killed at least six people since first being reported in China, has been confirmed in the U.S. Former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and President and CEO of Resolve To Save Lives, Dr. Thomas Frieden, weighs in on what to do if symptoms arise and what precautions are being taken to fight the spread of the disease. At least one person in the United States is infected with the mysterious pneumonia-like virus that’s killed at least six people and sickened some 300 others since the illness was first reported in the Chinese city of Wuhan. The case of the new coronavirus was confirmed in a man in Seattle, Washington. The man arrived in the U.S. last week before officials with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced “enhanced health screenings” for airline passengers arriving from or traveling through the Wuhan province. San Francisco International Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport all began the initiative on Jan. 17. (AP Photo/Mark Schiefelbein) The patient, who was not identified, is a resident of the U.S. and is in stable condition, CDC officials said during a Tuesday news conference. The patient is isolated at the hospital he is being treated at and poses "very little risk" to medical staff and the public, officials said. The man was reportedly aware of the outbreak affecting Wuhan before falling ill and proactively reached out to state health officials when he began experiencing symptoms, which have been reported to include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. The patient did not arrive on a direct flight from Wuhan, meaning people on more than one flight may have been exposed to the illness, which officials this week confirmed is transmissible between humans. Officials are now working to determine who may be at risk, Dr. Scott Lindquist, the Washington State epidemiologist for communicable diseases, said during the news conference. (Suh Myung-geon/Yonhap via AP) Confirmation of human-to-human transmission has sparked fears that a person infected with the virus and experiencing the most severe stage of infection could be a super-spreader — someone who transmits the virus to a considerable more amount of people than the average infected person, the South China Morning Post reported. Coronavirus can cause a range of illnesses, from the common cold to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) — the latter of which also began in China and infected some 8,000 people during a 2002-2003 outbreak. At least 770 died after it spread to other cities and countries across the world. At the time, international travel in combination with a few super-spreaders facilitated the massive outbreak, according to one report. The current coronavirus outbreak has now affected five countries including the U.S. In addition to China, officials in Thailand, South Korea, and Japan have also reported cases, according to the CDC. Taiwan to enforce quarantine anyone showing Wuhan virus symptoms
China | 21 Jan 2020 7:43 pm Taiwan has decided to impose 14 days' quarantine for those showing pneumonia-like symptoms.. Travelers, regardless of nationality, who have recently been to China and are found to have "pneumonia-like symptoms" will now be subject to compulsory quarantine, Taiwan has announced, CNA reported. The Centers for Disease Control, deputy director-general, Chuang Jen-hsiang, said today that the new measure took effect yesterday after more cases of the new coronavirus were confirmed in China and other parts of Asia over the weekend. Previously, people were only quarantined if they developed pneumonia-like symptoms and had been to Wuhan, China, where the outbreak is believed to have first begun. At the same time, those who have the above-mentioned symptoms and have been to China but fail to report their conditions to related health authorities could face a fine of up to NT$150,000 (US$4,959) for violating the Communicable Disease Control Act, according to the CDC. Chuang said, meanwhile, that the CDC will soon have brochures distributed on flights from China, Hong Kong and Macau that alert inbound travelers to the seriousness of the coronavirus. The brochures will remind them to watch their health and report their conditions to the authorities if they develop pneumonia-like symptoms or face a fine. The CDC reiterated its appeal to Taiwanese traveling in China that they wear surgical masks and avoid contact with animals, animal markets and patients with acute respiratory syndrome. People who develop a fever, acute cough or other respiratory symptoms within 14 days after returning from China should also contact the CDC via its hotline 1922, or 0800-001-922, wear a surgical mask and seek immediate medical attention. Though the CDC noted that those with the coronavirus may not develop a fever, the measure in practice will still depend on monitoring the temperatures of inbound travelers when they arrive at airports and seaports across the country. Travelers with a fever will then be asked about their travel history and then be checked by a doctor if the situation warrants it. Those found to have pneumonia-like symptoms such as shortness of breath and low blood-oxygen levels and who have been in China over the previous 14 days will be subject to compulsory quarantine, Chuang said. Additional medical workers have been posted at Taiwan's international gateways to support the measure. link

WHO calls for emergency meeting as China confirms 4th death & person-to-person spread of new coronavirus
21 Jan, 2020 04:22 / Updated 1 day ago WHO calls for emergency meeting as China confirms 4th death & person-to-person spread of new coronavirus Medical staff transfer a patient at the Jinyintan hospital in Wuhan, January 20, 2020. © Reuters / Stringer The World Health Organization will convene an emergency expert panel to determine whether a new virus sweeping China should be declared a global threat, after Chinese health officials confirmed the lethal pathogen is contagious. The upcoming WHO meeting, set for Wednesday, was announced on the heels of the fourth confirmed death from the new coronavirus, which first broke out in the Chinese city of Wuhan but has since spread, taking hold in Beijing and Shanghai. There are now 217 known infections, according to the Chinese authorities, with 198 of them in Wuhan and another four cases reported in Japan, South Korea, and Thailand. “The recent outbreak of novel coronavirus pneumonia in Wuhan and other places must be taken seriously,” Chinese President Xi Jinping said on national TV, addressing the issue publicly for the first time. While the global health body has yet to recommend travel or trade restrictions over the virus, its panel of experts could suggest such measures on Wednesday in order to limit its spread. Other health authorities around the world have begun screening for the illness at airports, including in the US, Australia, India, and a number of other Asian countries. China’s new killer virus is mutated SARS & may be one more mutation away from infecting millions. Will it make the lethal leap? Zhong Nanshan, the Chinese scientist credited with discovering SARS – a related coronavirus – in 2003, told Chinese media the newest pathogen is capable of spreading from person to person, but said the virus was still in an early stage and that he did not expect it to rise to the level of the 2003 SARS outbreak, which killed nearly 800 people worldwide. link

I'm not a conspiracy nut, but think about this: Rev 6:8 "And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth." I've heard various commentators opine that the "beasts" might be viruses, carried by animals. Just something to think about. Weaponized coronavirus invades the USA as world panics over possible pandemic
January 22, 2020, by Mike Adams, editor, Natural News The next wave of attack against humanity has just been unleashed. The so-called "novel coronavirus" (2019-nCoV) is now spreading across Mainland China, and with the Chinese New Year travel surge under way, China's residents are "exporting" the virus everywhere. Confirmed cases have cropped up in Taiwan, and the CDC has confirmed that at least one patient in the United States has been infected and hospitalized (after being misdiagnosed for a week, during which he most likely spread the infections to others). NOTE: Natural News is currently functioning in "emergency" mode after suffering a severe cyber attack that has temporarily disconnected us from our own data servers. Site functionality is very limited until we restore full connectivity. Thank you for your prayers as we navigate this latest malicious attempt to silence our journalism. As covered by Alt Market: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday confirmed the first U.S. case of a new coronavirus that has killed six people in China. The CDC and Washington state officials said the man, in his 30s, was in good condition at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett. The symptoms presented Sunday, and the diagnosis was confirmed Monday. Nancy Messonnier, director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, called the news "concerning," particularly in light of reports that the virus has begun to spread from person to person. "The confirmation of human-to-human spread in Asia certainly increases our concern," Messonnier said. The CDC, which began enhanced health screenings last week at airports in San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles, said Atlanta and Chicago would be added to the list. All traveling from Wuhan, China – where the outbreak began – to the USA are rerouted to these airports. Cases have been found spreading to Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, the Philippines, Australia and now the United States, reports DC Clothesline. Already in Mexico? One case of coronavirus which has been confirmed in Mexico involves a 57-year-old Asian man whose stops included Tijuana, Beijing and Wuhan, where the outbreak is known to be spreading. According to Breitbart News, "According to a statement from the Tamaulipas Health Secretariat, a level three health protocol was triggered after a college professor was identified as a possible carrier of Coronavirus." "This is serious business," warned Dr. Peter Hotez, Dean of the Molecular, Virology, and Microbiology Department at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, in a Breitbart interview. "We are now seeing person-to-person spreading of the virus." Hotez recommends that everyone get a flu vaccine, by the way, even though this year's flu vaccine has nothing whatsoever to do with the coronavirus that's spreading in China. Upwards of 20,000 people already infected in China, according to estimates "Chinese health authorities announced Wednesday that 440 confirmed cases of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) had been reported in 13 provincial-level regions in the country by the end of Tuesday," reports The Big Wobble. "According to Prof Neil Ferguson's table, (see below) of the MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis at Imperial College London, 440 confirmed cases is the equivalent of almost 20,000 unconfirmed cases." The Big Wobble goes on to explain, "Published 5 days ago 45 confirmed cases was the equivalent of up to 2,000 cases, Today, 440 confirmed cases, is, therefore, the equivalent of almost 20,000 unconfirmed cases according to Prof Neil Ferguson." The conclusion of Prof. Ferguson's analysis: It is likely that the Wuhan outbreak of a novel coronavirus has caused substantially more cases of moderate or severe respiratory illness than currently reported. Dave Hodges has also posted more details about "patient zero" in the United States. A bioengineered, weaponized viral strain What seems obvious from the rapid adaption of this viral strain -- which has now achieved "human-to-human transmission" -- is that it has been engineered as a self-replicating weapon system to achieve the globalists' depopulation goals. The long incubation period that seems to be presently observed allows this viral strain to spread in "stealth" mode, largely undetected until its payload fully activates. The longer the incubation period, the more people are infected and become silent carriers (who may not even know they are infected). Currently this coronavirus is believed to have a low fatality rate, something less than 5%. However, this may change as the viral strain adapts or is altered through transgenic effects emerging from exposure to other circulating viral strains. In other words, viral strains can, in certain cases, recombine their proteins to create whole new strains. All this virus needs is to encounter a more deadly "payload" and incorporate that genetic sequence into its own. The bottom line? Humanity is now under serious threat from these engineered bioweapons. They are fully resistant to known antibiotics, making them "superbugs" for which there is no known conventional treatment. This will inevitably cause many people to turn to colloidal silver, chlorine dioxide, essential oils and other natural cures, since natural medicine is the only system of medicine that can stop these engineered bioweapons. Which remedy works best against this particular strain, however, is entirely unknown, and if you are afflicted with this coronavirus, you should seek out immediate help from a naturopathic physician. If the CDC gets their hands on you, they will likely deprive you of any access to natural medicine while they take biopsies and blood samples, turning you into a human lab rat and imprisoning you under Obama-era Ebola quarantine rules. link

China's coronavirus could have same death rate as Spanish flu pandemic that killed 50m people
January 22, 2020 China’s deadly coronavirus may have the same death rate as Spanish flu, an expert has warned. Deaths from the new virus rose to 17 on Wednesday with hundreds of cases now confirmed, increasing fears of widespread contagion. The previously unknown flu-like coronavirus strain is believed to have emerged from an animal market in central Wuhan city, with cases now detected as far away as the US. The Spanish flu pandemic of 1918 is widely regarded as “the deadliest in history”, and is believed to have infected around 500 million people worldwide, killing between 20 and 50 million. 3D illustration of Coronavirus, virus which causes SARS and MERS, Middle East Respiratory SyndromeView photos The new coronavirus strain has caused 17 confirmed deaths so far. [Photo: Getty] More Chinese officials have confirmed 440 cases of the new coronavirus strain - 2019-nCoV - so far, with 17 deaths. Based on existing data, the disease is said to have a 2% death rate. This means that for every 50 people who catch the infection, one will statistically die. To put this into context, around one in every 1,000 who develop flu die, giving it a death rate of 0.1%. “This [2019-nCoV’s death rate] could be 2%, similar to Spanish flu,” said Professor Neil Ferguson from Imperial College London. New CDC coronavirus report: 2nd case confirmed in the U.S.
The new case is a woman in Chicago. Dozens more cases are being investigated. Jan. 24, 2020, 10:25 AM EST / Updated Jan. 24, 2020, 11:56 AM EST By Erika Edwards A second case of the new coronavirus has been confirmed in the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Friday morning. The CDC is also investigating another 61 potential cases from 22 states. Eleven have tested negative, and results from the rest are pending. The new case, a woman in her 60s, is hospitalized in Chicago, and is reportedly doing well. She had traveled to Wuhan, China, in December, and flew home to Illinois on Jan. 13. She was not symptomatic on the flight home. The woman had not spent much time in public after arriving back in the U.S., and had not taken public transportation, health officials said. The risk that she had infected others is low, but some close contacts are being monitored for symptoms. Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said that it's important to keep in mind that there are still many unknowns about the virus. "This virus was only identified within the past month, and there is much we don't know yet," Messonnier said during a call with journalists Friday. She added it's likely there will be more cases in the U.S., including among close contacts of travelers. Full article at link

CHINA GOES ON LOCKDOWN WITH WUHAN CORONAVIRUS AS HEALTH AUTHORITIES ALARMINGLY PREDICT SICKNESS WILL SOON INFECT 350,000 IN CHINESE PROVINCE
In a drastic turn of events, part of the Great Wall of China and Disneyland in Shanghai have been closed as authorities desperately try to stop people spreading the Wuhan coronavirus amid fears as many as 10,000 are already infected with the killer virus. Fourteen cities, home to around 40 million people, are reported to have gone into some form of lockdown in the past two days, with public transport halted and roads closed. China Wuhan coronavirus weaponized biowar by Geoffrey Grider January 24, 2020 China has gone into lockdown today as authorities and businesses scramble to shut tourist attractions and public transport systems in a bid to stop the spread of the deadly new Wuhan coronavirus that has killed at least 26 people. China is struggling to deal with the outbreak of the Wuhan coronavirus that has the potential to breakout globally, 26 people are dead and thousands more infected. The current panic over the Wuhan coronavirus reminds me of a few years ago and the very similar situation of the Ebola virus. Remember that one? Sadly, we live in an age where a pandemic is no longer a pandemic, but something that could also be caused by the intentional release of micro bio-agents created in government laboratories. No tin foil hat here, just a honest acknowledgment of the truth of times we live in. In the 21st century, everything is weaponized, from the sickness to the cure. I don’t trust any of it. China lockdown of 14 cities as Wuhan coronavirus outbreak worsens FROM DAILY MAIL UK: In a drastic turn of events, part of the Great Wall of China and Disneyland in Shanghai have been closed as authorities desperately try to stop people spreading the Wuhan coronavirus amid fears as many as 10,000 are already infected with the killer virus. Fourteen cities, home to around 40 million people, are reported to have gone into some form of lockdown in the past two days, with public transport halted and roads closed. And a report written by researchers from England, Scotland and Florida, has predicted that a staggering 350,000 people may be infected just in Wuhan – the city where the outbreak started – by the beginning of February. In the US, one man in Washington State is being monitored after being confirmed to have the disease and other suspected cases are being tested in California and Texas. Across the Atlantic, British authorities have tested 14 people but no cases have been confirmed yet. Other shocking developments in the outbreak today include: Chinese New Year celebrations, planned for the following week, have been cancelled in Beijing and Hong Kong Officially, at least 850 people around the world have been infected with coronavirus and 26 have died Footage has emerged reportedly showing military personnel guarding a train station Videos from inside hospitals show patients crammed into overcrowded corridors and laid on the floor In the UK, the Government will meet later today to discuss its response after 14 patients were tested for the virus In the US, 12 people have been tested for the virus but still only one case has been confirmed – on Monday Shanghai Disney Resort posted on its website: ‘In response to the prevention and control of the disease outbreak and in order to ensure the health and safety of our guests and cast, Shanghai Disney Resort is temporarily closing Shanghai Disneyland, Disneytown. We will continue to carefully monitor the situation and… announce the reopening date upon confirmation.’ A section of the Great Wall known as the Badaling section – one of the most visited parts – has been closed to tourists, Al Jazeera reports. The following measures have been taken to control the disease’s spread in and around China: Beijing’s Forbidden Palace, which hosts the Palace Museum, will be closed to visitors from tomorrow, Saturday The Beijing National Stadium, also known as the Bird’s Nest, has been closed A four-day carnival planned in Hong Kong, from January 25 to 28, has been cancelled by the state tourism board Hong Kong’s Lunar New Year World Cup football tournament has been called off All public Lunar New Year events in Macau, home to more than half-a-million people, have been cancelled A report shared with MailOnline after being produced yesterday by researchers from Lancaster University in England, the University of Florida and the University of Glasgow, estimated that only five per cent of all the coronavirus cases are being diagnosed. Dr Jonathan Read, a biostatistics researcher at Lancaster, wrote with colleagues: ‘If no change in control or transmission happens, then we expect further outbreaks to occur in other Chinese cities, and that infections will continue to be exported to international destinations at an increasing rate. ‘In 14 days’ time (4 February 2020), our model predicts the number of infected people in Wuhan to be greater than 250 thousand (prediction interval, 164,602 to 351,396). ‘We predict the cities with the largest outbreaks elsewhere in China to be Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chongqing and Chengdu. We also predict that by 4 Feb 2020, the countries or special administrative regions at greatest risk of importing infections through air travel are Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and South Korea.’ Businesses around China – the world’s biggest nation and home to more than one billion people, a seventh of the world’s population – are already having to take drastic measures. READ MORE China Locks Down Wuhan Amid Coronavirus Outbreak The Chinese city at the center of a widening respiratory-virus outbreak suspended outbound flights and rail service, as China ramps up efforts to contain an illness that’s killed at least 17 people and infected hundreds. The travel halt by the city of Wuhan was reported by state broadcaster CCTV. The city of 11 million people also suspended travel by bus, subway and ferry. Residents shouldn’t leave without special reasons, the report said. link

China expands lockdown against virus, fast-tracks hospital
By YANAN WANG yesterday BEIJING (AP) — China expanded its lockdown against the deadly new virus to an unprecedented 36 million people and rushed to build a prefabricated, 1,000-bed hospital for victims Friday as the outbreak cast a pall over Lunar New Year, the country’s biggest, most festive holiday. The number of confirmed cases around the world climbed sharply to more than 850, with at least 26 deaths, all of them in China. Meanwhile, France announced that three people had fallen ill with the virus — the disease’s first appearance in Europe. And the United States reported its second case, involving a Chicago woman in her 60s who was hospitalized in isolation after returning from China. On Wall Street, stocks slumped amid fears over the widening crisis, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average losing 170 points and the S&P 500 posting its worst day in three months. 'This time I'm scared': experts fear too late for China virus lockdown
AFP AFP•January 24, 2020 China's bid to contain a deadly new virus by placing cities of millions under quarantine is an unprecedented undertaking but it is unlikely to stop the disease spreading, experts warn. The contagious virus has already reached elsewhere in China and abroad, and even an authoritarian government has only a small timeframe in which trapped residents will submit to such a lockdown, they say. "I think we have passed the golden period of control and prevention," said Guan Yi, an expert on viruses at Hong Kong University. China began its campaign on Thursday, cutting off all transport links out of Wuhan, a city of 11 million people where the coronavirus linked to SARS emerged late last year. A cascading number of nearby cities has since been added to the travel blacklist, corralling more than 40 million people in a bid to stop those with the disease travelling and infecting others elsewhere. However, with the death toll at 26 and infections being detected as far away as the United States, there are fears the exercise is too little too late. Yi, who returned from Wuhan just before the lockdown, pointed out huge numbers of people would have already left ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, which began Friday. They could have been incubating the virus "on their way out of Wuhan", he said. Symptoms could take several days to emerge -- effectively seeding a health time-bomb across the country and abroad. - Escape plans - Meanwhile, new gaps in the security web in Wuhan and its surroundings will likely emerge over coming days, even as China deploys its formidable security forces. They are manning road blocks that have been set up, while train and plane services have been suspended. Story continues at link
