Coronavirus “Perfect Storm” Now Exists Thanks to Biosludge, Open Borders, Filthy Liberal Cities
Friday, January 24, 2020 by: Mike Adams Tags: Biosludge, coronavirus, infections, liberal cities, Open Borders, outbreak, pandemic, perfect storm Image: Coronavirus “Perfect Storm” Now Exists Thanks to Biosludge, Open Borders, Filthy Liberal Cities (Natural News) The horrendously bad decisions of human beings who hold power in government, media and industry have brought the human race to a “perfect storm” of conditions that will strongly contribute to the spread and fatalities of the coronavirus pandemic now threatening the world. As I relate in an emergency podcast below, the following conditions are now converging into a worst case scenario when trying to stop a pandemic (or a best case scenario for the globalists trying to achieve depopulation): #1) Open borders policies that allow infected people to walk right across the border into the United States, with no health screening whatsoever. #2) Sanctuary city policies that protect infected illegals from being discovered or deported. #3) The widespread practice of biosludge distribution onto food crops. “Biosludge” is the raw human sewage sludge that’s collected by every city in America, slightly dried to reduce water mass, then loaded onto trucks and dumped on nearby farm fields. It’s sold to farmers as “free fertilizer” because it’s rich in nitrogen. It also means that any coronavirus which makes its way into the sewage system will be distributed by U.S. cities onto farm fields, obviously contaminating food crops and multiplying the effects of the pandemic. (See the full documentary at Biosludged.com to learn about biosludge.) #4) The now-legal practice in Washington State of liquefying dead human bodies and flushing them into the municipal sewage system, where they become biosludge to be spread on crops. This practice was just recently legalized in Washington, and it means the dead will be used to fertilize the food crops that are fed to the living. When people start dying from coronavirus, will they also be flushed into the sewage systems? #5) The practice — now common in filthy liberal cities — of allowing people to openly defecate in the streets, with no repercussions or arrests. Since viruses often infect human feces and other body excretions, this likely means that coronavirus will be found in the raw human feces that gets washed into storm drains during rain storms. The storm drains in San Francisco, Seattle and other coastal cities empty directly into the ocean, where viruses are then washed onto the beaches of North America, infecting beach goers and mixing with aquatic ecosystems to produce even more potentially dangerous variants of infectious disease. #6) The continued attacks on natural medicine and the censorship of sources like Natural News that can teach people how to avoid or overcome infections even when pharmaceutical medicines fail (or are completely out of supply). #7) The compromised human immune system due to widespread vaccination practices that actually weaken, not strengthen, the veracity of the human immune response. People who routinely receive vaccinations such as flu shots are discovered to be more vulnerable to future infections. Widespread immunization practices across North America, Europe, Australia and other countries have created a highly vulnerable population that can be easily infected with coronavirus. These factors now converge to create a perfect storm for the coronavirus outbreak, which is actually a weaponized, engineered biological weapon being unleashed against humanity in order to achieve depopulation. It will very likely succeed, since humanity has been begging for self-destruction through all the practices detailed above. Most notably, the highest fatalities from any such pandemic will occur in cities; especially cities where the homeless are more populous and filthy, unsanitary conditions exist. In other words, liberal cities. Listen to my urgent podcast for more details: Brighteon.com/0aaf4243-1dfe-47e9-9c56-32232a96cdfclink

Coronavirus outbreak: Video shows dead bodies in halls of China hospital
By Lia EustachewichJanuary 24, 2020 | 10:48am | Updated Coronavirus outbreak: Video shows dead bodies in halls of China hospital Disturbing new video shows dead bodies piling up in the hallways of a hospital in China, as the coronavirus outbreak continues to spiral out of control. The images from inside Red Cross Hospital in Wuhan, the city at the epicenter of the deadly viral outbreak, show covered bodies lining corridors as staffers and patients walk about with masks on their faces. The video, which has been widely shared on social media, was verified by Storyful on Friday. Officials in Wuhan are scrambling to build a 1,000-bed hospital to address the burgeoning need for treatment of patients sickened by the coronavirus — which has killed at least 26 people and infected hundreds of others. The new 270,000-square-foot facility is expected to be up and running by Feb. 3. Wuhan, a city of over 11 million residents, has been on lockdown amid the outbreak, which has been linked to a seafood market there that sold exotic wildlife for human consumption. Video at link

Second US case of coronavirus confirmed in Chicago By Lia EustachewichJanuary 24, 2020 | 10:57am Second US case of coronavirus confirmed in Chicago The latest confirmed case involves a 60-year-old woman who returned from Wuhan, China, on Jan. 13 and began experiencing symptoms including fever, coughing and shortness of breath three to four days later, health officials in Chicago told reporters Friday. She was admitted to an unidentified hospital and placed in isolation while tests confirmed the virus. She is currently in stable condition and doing well. “This is a single travel-associated case, not a local health emergency,” Dr. Allison Arwady, the commissioner of the Chicago Department of Public Health, said at a press conference. Arwady insisted that the risk of infection for others was “low nationally and locally.” “To our best knowledge, she has not had extended close contact with anyone outside her home since returning from China and prior to her admission into the health care system,” Arwady said. She wouldn’t say what airline the woman flew on. “Again, this patient was not symptomatic when she was traveling, which lowers the risk,” Arwady added. Earlier in the day, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed it’s examining 63 patients in 22 states for possible coronavirus infection. So far, 11 have tested negative. The mysterious illness has been linked to a shady seafood market in Wuhan. The virus has killed at least 26 people and infected more than 800 worldwide. The first case of coronavirus in the US was confirmed earlier this week in Washington state. Video at link

Coronavirus outbreak: New York on high alert with over 1,200 infected worldwide
By Yaron SteinbuchJanuary 25, 2020 | 12:39am NYC shops hit with face mask shortage amid coronavirus fears Coronavirus reaches Europe with two cases confirmed in France New York investigating 3 possible cases of coronavirus De Blasio: Coronavirus will reach NYC 'sooner rather than later' The deadly new coronavirus is continuing to spread across the globe, wreaking havoc in China, sickening a second person in the United States and leaving health officials on high alert in New York state. Gov. Cuomo revealed Friday that three people were under observation in the state after potentially being exposed to the virus. The state Health Department at one point had as many as four cases under investigation, but one proved negative, Cuomo said. Citing confidentiality, officials declined to say where in the state the three suspected cases were located. No cases were so far being reported in New York City, where two international airports and a large Chinese immigrant population put residents at risk from an outbreak that began in Wuhan, China. In other developments Friday: The United States reported its second coronavirus patient, a Chicago woman in her 60s who was hospitalized and in isolation after returning from China. The first US patient, a man in his 30s who had also traveled to China, remained hospitalized north of Seattle.Earlier in the day, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said 63 people across 22 states were being examined for possible coronavirus infection. Of those patients, 11, including a woman in New Jersey, have tested negative for the virus so far. The coronavirus death toll rose to 41. Of these, 39 died in Wuhan, with the remainder dying elsewhere in China. Most of those who have died after contracting the virus were age 60 or older, and some had pre-existing medical conditions. The number infected worldwide rose to 1,287. The vast majority of the sick are in China. France is reporting three people ill with the virus, its first appearance in Europe. One was a 48-year-old man who passed through Wuhan before traveling to France on Wednesday. He was hospitalized in Bordeaux. A second person was hospitalized in Paris. The coronavirus has also been detected in Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Nepal. On Wall Street, stocks slumped amid fears of a worsening crisis. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 170 points and the S&P 500 posted its worst day in three months. Health care companies suffered losses, along with financial institutions, airlines and other tourism and travel-industry businesses. Wuhan, the coronavirus epicenter and a city of 11 million people, remained on virtual lockdown. Officials shut down all mass transportation in Wuhan, and hospitals grappled with a flood of patients and a lack of supplies. A clip from Red Cross Hospital in Wuhan and verified by Storyful showed staff and patients walking in corridors as bodies covered in sheets line the floors. Another video on Twitter showed panicked patients flooding another Wuhan hospital. Officials in Wuhan, the capital city of Hubei province, scrambled to build a 1,000-bed hospital by Monday, state media reported. link

Person 'who passed through' Nassau County being tested for coronavirus
Person 'who passed through' LI being tested for coronavirus, official says Newsday reporter David Olson reports from Nassau University Medical Center about the person who “passed through" Nassau County and is being tested for the coronavirus. (Credit: Danielle Silverman) By David Olson david.olson@newsday.com @davidolson11 Updated January 24, 2020 8:51 PM A person who “passed through Nassau” County is being tested for the coronavirus that has killed 41 people and sickened nearly 1,300 in China, Nassau’s health commissioner said Friday. Commissioner Dr. Lawrence Eisenstein said he did not have details about the individual, including whether the person currently is in Nassau or lives in the county. He referred questions to the New York State Department of Health, which sent a morning statement from the office of Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo that said the health department “currently has four persons under investigation for novel coronavirus that are under isolation as their cases are being tested at the CDC.” RECOMMENDED READING Outbreak casts pall over China new year as deaths surpass 40 One of those cases was determined to be negative; the others are pending, the state said. Asked about the case of the person who visited Nassau, a state health department spokeswoman said that “due to patient confidentiality, we cannot release any further information.” No one in Suffolk County is being investigated for possible exposure to the virus, said Suffolk health department spokeswoman Grace Kelly-McGovern. Speaking generally, Eisenstein said tests would be conducted on people who recently traveled in the Wuhan area of China where the outbreak is concentrated, or had contact with someone who was in the region, and have the flu-like symptoms — such as high fever and coughing — associated with the virus, identified as 2019-nCoV. If someone meets those criteria, the county could arrange transport to a hospital, where the person would be put in isolation, said Deborah Kimelstein, Nassau's director of communicable disease control. Eisenstein spoke at an East Meadow news conference on the virus Friday with other county officials at Nassau University Medical Center, shortly after the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced a second confirmed case in the United States, in Chicago. The first confirmed case is a Washington state man. Both had recently traveled to China. County Executive Laura Curran urged residents not to panic. Video at link

China Deploys Military to Fight Coronavirus as Confirmed Infections Approach 1,000
A police officers and security guards stand outside the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market where the coronavirus was detected in Wuhan on January 24, 2020 - The death toll in China's viral outbreak has risen to 25, with the number of confirmed cases also leaping to 830, the national health commission …HECTOR RETAMAL/AFP via Getty FRANCES MARTEL24 Jan 2020 China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) will deploy to central Wuhan, the metropolis where a previously unidentified coronavirus that has killed at least 26 people originated, to help build medical facilities to fight the virus, the Communist Party confirmed on Friday. The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed 902 cases of the Wuhan virus worldwide, the overwhelming majority of them in China. All 26 deaths also occurred in China. Health authorities have isolated confirmed cases of the virus throughout Asia – in Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau – as well as Italy and the United States. The international cases are all Wuhan residents abroad or locals who recently visited Wuhan. The People’s Daily, the official newspaper of the Communist Party of China, noted that the number of suspected cases surpassed 1,000 as of Friday. Those numbers may be significantly deflated, however, as reports surface from Wuhan and elsewhere in China of doctors refusing to test individuals suffering from and dying of pneumonia, which the virus is known to cause. Individuals who suspect they may be carrying the coronavirus have revealed anonymously that Wuhan hospitals have turned them away when requesting testing. Coronavirus is a family of viruses that includes the one responsible for the 2003 outbreak of Sudden Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), which killed nearly 800 people. The Communist Party’s refusal to act to publicly contain the virus and repeated denials of the scale of the contagion contributed significantly to the high death toll. For this outbreak, the Communist Party has insisted that it has been diligent and transparent in combatting the public health threat since identifying the virus and sharing the genome sequence with global scientists on Monday. Health experts issued an ominous warning about a coronavirus pandemic 3 months ago. Their simulation showed it could kill 65 million people.
Business Insider insider@insider.com (Aria Bendix) ,Business Insider•January 24, 2020 A coronavirus that originated in Wuhan, China, has killed 18 people and infected more than 630. The virus has been reported in at least eight other countries, including the US, where a man in Washington who recently visited China was confirmed to have the illness. A scientist at Johns Hopkins last year modeled what would happen if a deadly coronavirus reached a pandemic scale. His simulated scenario predicted that 65 million people could die within 18 months. Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories. Eric Toner, a scientist at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, wasn't shocked when news of a mysterious coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, China, surfaced in early January. Less than three months earlier, Toner had staged a simulation of a global pandemic involving a coronavirus. Coronaviruses typically affect the respiratory tract and can lead to illnesses like pneumonia or the common cold. A coronavirus was also responsible for the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome in China, which affected about 8,000 people and killed 774 in the early 2000s. "I have thought for a long time that the most likely virus that might cause a new pandemic would be a coronavirus," Toner said. The outbreak in Wuhan isn't considered a pandemic, but the virus has been reported in Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, and Saudi Arabia. The US reported its first case on Tuesday: a man in his 30s living in Washington's Snohomish County, north of Seattle, who recently visited China. Story at link

China built a lab to study SARS and Ebola in Wuhan - and US biosafety experts warned in 2017 that a virus could 'escape' the facility that's become key in fighting the outbreak
The Wuhan National Biosafety Laboratory is the only lab in China designated for studying dangerous pathogens like SARS and Ebola Ahead of its January 2018 opening, biosafety experts and scientists from the US expressed concerns that a virus could escape the lab In 2004, a SARS virus 'leaked' from a lab in Beijing Experts say the coronavirus that's infected more than 800 people mutated in animals and became capable of infecting humans at the Wuhan seafood market But a 2017 article warned of the unpredictability of lab animals that scientists at the Wuhan lab intended to inject with viruses By NATALIE RAHHAL ACTING US HEALTH EDITOR PUBLISHED: 17:08 EST, 23 January 2020 | UPDATED: 20:56 EST, 24 January 2020 Scientists warned in 2017 that a SARS-like virus could escape a lab set up that year in Wuhan, China, to study some of the most dangerous pathogens in the world. Now, a SARS-like coronavirus has infected more than 800 there, spread to at least 10 other countries and killed 25 in Wuhan and nearby provinces. China installed the first of a planned five to seven biolabs designed for maximum safety in Wuhan in 2017, for the purpose of studying the most high-risk pathogens, including the Ebola and the SARS viruses. Tim Trevan, a Maryland biosafety consultant, told Nature that year, when the lab was on the cusp of opening, that he worried that China's culture could make the institute unsafe because 'structures where everyone feels free to speak up and openness of information are important.' In fact, the SARS virus had 'escaped' multiple times from a lab in Beijing, according to the Nature article. The Wuhan National Biosafety Laboratory is located about 20 miles away from the Huanan Seafood Market and some have wondered if the outbreak's epicentre is coincidental, but the scientific community currently believes that the virus mutated through and jumped to people through animal-human contact at the market. But, 'at this point there's no reason to harbour suspicions' that the facility had anything to do with the outbreak, besides being responsible for the crucial genome sequencing that lets doctors diagnose it, Rutgers University microbiologist Dr Richard Ebright told DailyMail.com. Harvard scientist tweets: Holy mother of God, this Virus has an Ro of 3.8

@drericding
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD - the new coronavirus is a 3.8!!! How bad is that reproductive R0 value? It is thermonuclear pandemic level bad - never seen an actual virality coefficient outside of Twitter in my entire career. I’m not exaggerating... #WuhanCoronovirus
2/ “We estimate the basic reproduction number of the infection (R_0) to be 3.8 (95% confidence interval, 3.6-4.0), indicating that 72-75% of transmissions must be prevented by control measures for infections to stop increasing...
3/ ... We estimate that only 5.1% (95%CI, 4.8-5.5) of infections in Wuhan are identified, and by 21 January a total of 11,341 people (prediction interval, 9,217-14,245) had been infected in Wuhan since the start of the year. Should the epidemic continue unabated in Wuhan....
4/ we predict the epidemic in Wuhan will be substantially larger by 4 February (191,529 infections; prediction interval, 132,751-273,649), infection will be established in other Chinese cities, and importations to other countries will be more frequent. Our model suggests that..
5/ travel restrictions from and to Wuhan city are unlikely to be effective in halting transmission across China; with a 99% effective reduction in travel, the size of the epidemic outside of Wuhan may only be reduced by 24.9% on 4 February. Our findings are...
6/ ...critically dependent on the assumptions underpinning our model, and the timing and reporting of confirmed cases, and there is considerable uncertainty associated with the outbreak at this early stage. With these caveats in mind, our work suggests that...
7/ a basic reproductive number for this 2019-nCoV outbreak is higher compared to other emergent coronaviruses, suggesting that containment or control of this pathogen may be substantially more difficult.”!!!! #wuhanvirus #CoronavirusOutbreak #ChinaCoronaVirus ...
8/ ... SUMMARY: so what does this mean for the world??? We are now faced with the most virulent virus 🦠 epidemic the world has ever seen. An R0=3.8 means that it exceeds SARS’s modest 0.49 viral attack rate by 7.75x — almost 8 fold! A virus that spreads 8 faster than SARS...
9/ ...cannot be stopped by containment alone. A 99% quarantine lockdown containment of Wuhan will not even reduce the epidemic’s spread by even 1/3rd in the next 2 weeks. Thus, I really hate to be the epidemiologist who has to admit this, but we are potentially faced with...10\ ... possibly an unchecked pandemic that the world has not seen since the 1918 Spanish Influenza. Let’s hope it doesn’t reach that level but we now live in the modern world 🌎 with faster ✈️+ 🚞 than 1918.

Four Australian cases of coronavirus confirmed
Three men in New South Wales have been confirmed as contracting the deadly coronavirus, hours after another case was identified in Victoria. Adrianna Zappavigna, Sarah McPhee and AAP news.com.auJANUARY 25, 20208:34PM Coronavirus: Terrifying video shows doctors collapse in hospital Continue watching A new video appears to show doctors collapsing in a hospital in China as the deadly coronavirus mutates and continues to spread. Three cases of the deadly coronavirus have been confirmed in New South Wales, bringing the total nationwide to four. NSW Health tonight confirmed three men – aged in theirs 30s, 40s and 50s – are being treated in Westmead Hospital in Sydney and are in isolation. Victorian Health Minister Jenny Mikakos said this afternoon that a case of the respiratory condition had been confirmed in a man who last week returned from China. The man, aged in his 50s, was in Australia for six days before being diagnosed. A total of 41 people have died and more than 1200 have been infected so far in China, where the city of Wuhan is considered the epicentre of the virus. NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard said 18 people across the state have now been assessed for the virus after samples were sent to a “world-leading” laboratory in Victoria, with 12 patients being “excluded” and three being confirmed on Saturday. All three men arrived on flights from China – one on January 6, one on January 19 and the other date is being checked by authorities. “I’d like to thank each of these three people because they have been exemplary in the way that they presented themselves (to health services),” Mr Hazzard told reporters tonight. He labelled it a “tricky” and “evolving” virus and said the six other cases are under investigation. Picture: James GourleySource:News Corp Australia The Victorian case was the first confirmed case in Australia of “about a dozen” being investigated nationwide, an estimate put forward by Queensland’s Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young on Saturday. “It’s an evolving number,” she told reporters at a press conference on Saturday afternoon. “We will be treating them as if they’re confirmed cases, as a precaution. “We still don’t understand the transmissibility of this virus,” Ms Young explained, noting that treatment is symptomatic. “If you develop fever, coughs or shortness of breath, you should ring ahead to your GP, discuss it and your GP will refer you to the emergency department.” Queensland Health shared some good news in an update on Saturday night. “Five people being assessed in Queensland for the Wuhan coronavirus have tested negative to the disease,” the department said. Dr Young said one more person was being tested but their results will be available on Sunday. She said they were taking “all precautions possible” and had stepped up their response with the State Health Emergency Coordination Centre. Public hospital emergency departments across Queensland will be instructed to waive testing fees for foreign nationals suspected of carrying coronavirus. Full story with pictures and video at link

CORONAVIRUS: WOMAN SAYS DOCTORS ESTIMATE ‘100,000 INFECTED’ The deadly coronavirus is far worse than the Chinese government has said with 100,000 people infected, a woman believed to be a medic at the centre of the outbreak as claimed. Since the virus broke out in the city of Wuhan, 41 people have been killed with the number of confirmed cases in China nearly reaching 1,300. The disease has now been detected in Australia, Nepal, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, France and the United States. In an effort to combat the spread, Wuhan has been completely quarantined as well as 12 other regions. But a harrowing voice message on a WhatsApp group has now emerged which suggests the outbreak is hundreds of times worse than official figures coming out of China suggest. China's Xi warns virus is 'accelerating', country facing 'grave situation'
Xi Jinping will visit Myanmar for the first time as Chinese president Chinese president Xi Jinping (Photo: AFP/Noel CELIS) 25 Jan 2020 10:30PM (Updated: 26 Jan 2020 02:12AM) BEIJING: President Xi Jinping said China was facing a "grave situation" as the death toll from the coronavirus outbreak jumped to 41, overshadowing celebrations of the Chinese New Year that began on Saturday (Jan 25). China also announced further transport restrictions. With more than 1,400 people infected worldwide, most of them in China, Hong Kong declared a virus emergency, scrapped celebrations and restricted links to mainland China. Australia confirmed its first four cases on Saturday, Malaysia confirmed four and France reported Europe's first cases on Friday, as health authorities around the world scrambled to prevent a pandemic. The United States is arranging a charter flight on Sunday to bring its citizens and diplomats back from Wuhan, the central Chinese city that is the epicentre of the outbreak, the Wall Street Journal reported. In Hong Kong, with five confirmed cases, the city's leader Carrie Lam said flights and high speed rail trips between the city and Wuhan will be halted. Schools in Hong Kong that are currently on Chinese New Year holidays will remain closed until Feb 17. Advertisement READ: Vast Wuhan virus quarantine in China as cases emerge in Europe, South Asia MORE: Our coverage on the Wuhan virus and its developments Xi held a politburo meeting on Saturday on measures to fight the "accelerating" outbreak, state television reported. The death toll in China has risen to 41, authorities reported on Saturday, up from 26 a day earlier. As of 6pm local time, 1,372 people in China had been infected with the virus - traced to a seafood market in Wuhan that was illegally selling wildlife. The virus has also been detected in Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Nepal, and the United States. READ: 4th confirmed case of Wuhan virus in Singapore: MOH In Hubei province, where Wuhan is located, officials appealed for masks and protective suits. "We are steadily pushing forward the disease control and prevention ... But right now we are facing an extremely severe public health crisis," Hu Yinghai, deputy director-general of the Civil Affairs Department, told a news briefing. The newly identified coronavirus has created alarm because there are still many unknowns surrounding it, such as how dangerous it is and how easily it spreads between people. It can cause pneumonia, which has been deadly in some cases. Ride-hailing giant Didi Chuxing said it was halting inter-city services to and from Beijing from Sunday, while the capital will also stop running inter-province shuttle buses. State broadcaster CCTV, citing an announcement from China's tourism industry association, said the country would halt all group tours, both at home and abroad, from Monday. Wuhan said it would ban non-essential vehicles from its downtown starting Sunday, further paralysing a city of 11 million that has been on virtual lockdown since Thursday, with nearly all flights cancelled and checkpoints blocking the main roads leading out of town. Authorities have since imposed transport restrictions on nearly all of Hubei province, which has a population of 59 million. PROTECTIVE SUITS Australia confirmed its first four cases in two different cities on Saturday, and the country's chief health official said he expected more cases as Australia is a popular destination for Chinese tourists. State-run China Global Television Network reported on Saturday that a doctor who had been treating patients in Wuhan, 62-year-old Liang Wudong, had died from the virus. It was not immediately clear if his death was already counted in the official toll of 41, of which 39 were in the central province of Hubei, where Wuhan is located. CONFIRMED CASES Places Confirmed Cases Reported Deaths China 1372 41 Thailand 7 0 Hong Kong 5 0 Australia 4 0 Malaysia 4 0 Singapore 4 0 France 3 0 Taiwan 3 0 Japan 2 0 Macau 2 0 South Korea 2 0 United States 2 0 Vietnam 2 0 Nepal 1 0 TOTAL 1413 41 As of 4:46pm Jan 25, 2020 US coffee chain Starbucks said it was closing all its outlets in Hubei province for the week-long Lunar New Year holiday, following a similar move by McDonald's in five Hubei cities. Workers in white protective suits checked temperatures of passengers entering the subway at Beijing's central railway station on Saturday, while some train services in the eastern Yangtze River Delta region were suspended, the local railway operator said. 'GLOBAL HEALTH THREAT' There are fears transmission could accelerate as hundreds of millions of Chinese travel during the Lunar New Year holiday, although many have cancelled their plans. Airports around the world have stepped up screening of passengers from China, though some health officials and experts have questioned the effectiveness of such screenings. The World Health Organisation this week stopped short of calling the outbreak a global health emergency. A report by infectious disease specialists at Imperial College, London on Saturday said that despite this, the epidemic "represents a clear and ongoing global health threat" adding: "It is uncertain at the current time whether it is possible to contain the continuing epidemic within China." While China has called for transparency in managing the crisis, after cover-up of the 2002/2003 Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome spread, officials in Wuhan have been criticised for their handling of the current outbreak. In rare public dissent, a senior journalist at a Hubei newspaper run by the ruling Communist Party called on Friday for a "immediate" change of leadership in Wuhan on the Twitter-like Weibo. The post was later removed. Hubei province, where authorities are rushing to build a 1,000 bed hospital in six days, announced on Saturday that there were 658 patients affected by the virus in treatment, 57 of whom were critically ill. Shanghai Disneyland was closed from Saturday. Beijing's Lama Temple, where people make offerings for the new year, has also closed, as have some other temples. FIFTH US case of coronavirus is confirmed in Arizona as it's warned deadly infection can spread before symptoms show
The US government ordered evacuations for some 1,000 citizens and diplomats in Wuhan, China Coronavirus started in Wuhan in December and was traced to illegally-traded wildlife at seafood market The city of around 11 million people has been on lockdown with no one allowed in or out since Thursday Both LA and Orange Counties announced they each had a patient who tested positive for the coronavirus Both patients had recently traveled back from Wuhan - the epicenter of the virus, according to officials Shortly after 3pm on Sunday authorities announced a fifth case of the virus in Maricopa County, Arizona A man in Washington state and a 60-year-old woman in Chicago have also tested positive for the virus Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto said it is caring for a man in his 50s who had been to China Officials have said they expect that number to grow as dozens more people are being tested for the virus The virus has sickened more than 1,975 and killed 56 in at least 12 countries, according to authorities Extra precautions are being taken at airports nationwide as all passengers inbound from Wuhan are being funneled to five major hubs for screening By DAILYMAIL.COM REPORTER and ASSOCIATED PRESS PUBLISHED: 14:44 EST, 26 January 2020 | UPDATED: 16:04 EST, 26 January 2020 A fifth US case of coronavirus has been confirmed after two new patients tested positive in California and one patient tested positive in Arizona today. Health officials say that both California patients, one in Orange County and the second in Los Angeles County, had recently returned from the epicenter of the outbreak in Wuhan, China. Officials confirmed a fifth case in Maricopa County, Arizona. No other information was immediately available about that patient. Two other cases were previously confirmed in Chicago and Snohomish County, Washington, while Canada confirmed its first case Saturday in Toronto. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health said that the infected person presented themselves for testing after feeling unwell, and are 'currently receiving medical treatment'. 'There is no immediate threat to the general public, no special precautions are required,' they continued. 'LA County is well prepared to manage cases and suspected cases of novel coronavirus. Barbara Ferrer, PhD, MPH, MEd, Director of Public Health said doctors and scientists were still learning about the killer virus. 'Because novel coronavirus is new, we are learning more each day about transmission patterns and incubation periods. We will keep everyone informed as more information becomes available. The risk of transmission of coronavirus in LA County remains low,' she added. China's health minister Ma Xiaowei made a shocking statement on Sunday about the people possibly spreading the virus before they observe any symptoms. More than 2,000 cases of the virus have been confirmed by several governments worldwide as at least 56 people - most of them in China - have died. Full story with pictures and video at link

Quick burials and lack of tests raise fears coronavirus outbreak is much bigger than China admits
25 JANUARY 2020 • 4:45PM The corpse of Chen Min was wrapped in a yellow body bag with tape when it was delivered to the funeral home by workers in hazmat suits. The staff disinfected the van they travelled in and disposed of protective gear. Despite being pressured into a quick cremation by authorities, the grieving family did not know if the 65-year-old had died from the novel coronavirus sweeping China. And they still don't. Official figures estimate that 41 people have died so far and 1,300 have been infected. But experts at Imperial College reckon as many as 9,700 could have come down the disease. The swift disposal of Ms Chen's body raises further questions about the scale of the problem. Ms Chen’s fever and cough had set in only ten days before. Visits to three hospitals in Wuhan – the epicentre of the outbreak that by then had killed at least one person and spread overseas – all ended the same way, diagnosed with a cold and sent home with basic medicine. Her symptoms were consistent with the new virus infection, but doctors didn’t test for the mystery disease, nor quarantine her from others – not even when a CT scan showed shadows in her lungs. By the time she was placed in isolation at a hospital on January 15, she was in critical condition. Six hours later, she died. Her death certificate lists the cause as “severe pneumonia.” But doctors told her family she had “that” type of pneumonia, “highly likely” from a coronavirus infection. “Those words are very obvious hints to patients and relatives, but there are no written records or reports,” Ms Chen’s stepson, Kyle Hui, 40, told The Telegraph. Communist Party leader Xi Jinping has ordered “all-out” efforts to handle the epidemic, the latest in a string of political crises challenging his leadership. China's healthcare system struggles to support the population of 1.4 billion. With a major health crisis, the strain is even more visible. Socialised medicine improved life expectancy as China’s economy rose to become the world’s second-largest, and the government has ambitious reform plans. But China lacks robust primary care – the first line of defence – and resources for recovery and rehabilitation are scarce, said Chen Xi, a professor at the Yale School of Public Health. The country has one GP per 7,000 people, compared to the international standard of one for every 1,500 to 2,000 people, as recommended by the World Health Organization. In practice, this means patients are sick by the time they queue – sometimes before dawn – at overcrowded and understaffed hospitals to seek treatment, from basic to chronic ailments. Rural residents have even greater difficulty accessing quality care. Years of scandals – faulty vaccines, expired meat, tainted baby formula – have added to frustrations. Grievances have ended with patients or their relatives stabbing doctors to death. Security checks at hospitals try to combat the phenomenon, dubbed “yinao,” or “healthcare disturbance.” In Wuhan, hospitals are already running out of medical supplies, patient beds and coronavirus diagnostic test kits. “Some people with fevers and colds are being persuaded to go back home,” said Mr Chen. “They have no capacity…[and] that is worrisome, when the virus develops faster than the capacity of the health system.” People are posting complaints online, along with photos of long hospital lines, though such comments are being deleted quickly by Chinese government censors, seeking to control the flow of information. Mr Hui’s social media post about his mother’s funeral – in which he detailed meeting three other families who suspected their relatives also died because of the coronavirus – has been scrubbed off the internet. At least eight people have been called to a police station in Wuhan for “spreading rumours” after they posted online about the virus – a common tactic by the ruling Chinese Communist Party for silencing dissidents. Difficulty getting access to information and care could exacerbate the outbreak, and eventually become a source of casualties, warned Mr Chen. And if China’s response is ineffective, that could complicate disease spread globally. “I already had a cold,” said Tina Wang, 25, an international school teacher from Wuhan. But after hearing about trouble getting treatment, “I thought there would be a higher risk of getting infected if I go to the hospital, so I stayed at home and am taking medicine on my own.” China is scaling up for more patients, announcing plans Friday to build two new hospitals dedicated to treating those infected by the virus. The local government, however, is already under pressure for what residents and public health experts say was a botched initial response. While authorities knew of cases as far back as early December, it wasn’t announced to the public for weeks. And when the outbreak source was traced to a seafood market in Wuhan, the government ordered vendors to shut and disinfected the facility. That left little for scientists, looking to pinpoint how the virus was transmitted to humans, a key piece of information that could inform prevention and treatment. Resignation calls are mounting for Zhou Xianwang, the mayor of Wuhan, who “made no mention of a health crisis brewing” in a recent government forum, said Dali Yang, professor of political science at the University of Chicago. Part of the slow trickle of information may have been due to an annual local government meeting that ended January 17, after which the number of confirmed coronavirus cases began to spike. During key political events, “they want to project the air that everything is all right and try to hide the situation,” said Mr Yang. Concerns of being upstaged could have led to a “deliberate decision not to release cases until after.” Local officials may also have been worried that involving senior Chinese leaders would mean missing out on the next promotion. Over the last week, Beijing has taken over handling emergency response as the number of confirmed cases ticked rapidly upward, spreading as far away as the US. A lockdown has affected tens of millions in hopes of containing disease spread, though without more information disseminated regarding health risks, many people had already travelled ahead of the Chinese New Year holiday. And while screening checkpoints have gone up in transport hubs as part of wider detection efforts, people keep slipping through the cracks. Mr Hui says he wasn’t tested before departing Wuhan a few days ago, though such procedures were put in place more than a week before. Upon arrival in Shanghai, where he works as an architect, he also didn’t undergo any disinfecting treatment. Despite explaining he might have been exposed to the virus, the local health ministry told him he couldn’t be tested for the coronavirus unless he developed a fever. Information disclosed by the Chinese government, however, has shown that some of the infected patients who died didn’t have fevers when they were admitted. Researchers outside of China have since confirmed that there aren’t always telltale symptoms of infection. So Mr Hui is in a self-imposed quarantine, staying in a different place from his wife and son for the next two weeks, while he monitors his health. Doctors haven’t advised him or his family how to manage their exposure, and a medical bill hasn’t been issued – consistent with a government guarantee to cover costs for coronavirus-infected patients. Worrryingly, his sister-in-law, 42, has fallen ill. As his mother was never checked for the virus, Mr Hui and his father have lobbied hard for her to be evaluated. “It’s like a pyramid,” he said. “Only a small amount of people on the top are tested for the virus. The rest don’t stand a chance.” She has since been tested, and doctors say the worst of the virus has cleared, though they’ve kept her in hospital for monitoring. “The whole holiday week is ruined,” said Mr Hui, who has been going through the motions – arranging his mother’s funeral, cancelling her bank accounts. Her death hasn’t quite sunk in. Sighing deeply, he also hasn’t figured out how to tell his son that nainai – “grandma“ – is gone. “I don’t have any energy to think about that right now.” link
