Billy Porter On His “Genderless” Fairy Godmother in Upcoming ‘Cinderella’ Remake: “The Kids Are Ready”

In an interview with CBS in which he unintentionally revealed the hand of the LGBT movement, gender-bending star Billy Porter declared that “the kids are ready” for his “genderless” take on the role of the Fairy Godmother in an upcoming “Cinderella” remake. It’s those pesky conservative adults who insist that gender is more than just a “social construct,” Porter hinted, who are holding society back.
As we reported late last year, Porter was tapped for the role long ago rather than, you know, an actual woman. Because it’s 2020 and misogyny is totally acceptable as long as the man usurping a woman’s role is a member of the LGBT community.
Porter called the film, which is set to release in 2021, “a classic fairytale for a new generation.”
“It hit me when I was on the set last week, how profound it is that I am playing the Fairy Godmother — they call it the Fab G,” Porter told CBS, who heaped praises upon the “uber-talented” performer, on Monday. “Magic has no gender.”
“We are presenting this character as genderless — at least that’s how I’m playing it. And it’s really powerful,” Porter declared. “I think the new generation is really ready. The kids are ready. It’s the grownups that are slowing stuff down.”
Yes, because typically adults are the ones who think critically about a situation where children will typically accept anything that looks fun and appealing. That’s why God made parents, y’all. It is literally our jobs to “slow stuff down” when our children run headlong into a situation that could harm them.
Being exposed to something so fundamentally confusing as being “genderless?” You bet we’re going to stand between that and our precious, impressionable children.
Porter himself has made it his business to erase gender lines throughout his career, and he’s earned plenty of fame and fortune for doing so.
“Playing that role made me feel grounded and more powerful,” Porter said of his role as Lola in Broadway’s “Kinky Boots.” “Putting on those heels, putting on those dresses, putting on those wigs, made me feel more powerful, grounded and — dare I say — masculine, than I’ve ever felt in my whole life.”
“This idea that pants are strong and dresses are weak – I’m not interested in that conversation any more,” Porter told CBS, stating that too many limits and restrictions are placed on what people wear. “So, hopefully, I can be at the forefront of having a new conversation.”
It was also recently announced that Porter would star in an upcoming episode of the iconic children’s show “Sesame Street” wearing his famous “tuxedo dress.”
Make no mistake, folks. The invasion of gender theory isn’t confined to liberal metro areas, public schools, or anywhere else. It’s here. It’s in our homes. It’s on our televisions and in our children’s books.
