I know this isn't what you would call a deep theological question but what do you all think? Will there be food in Heaven and what kind of food? Will we be able to still eat our favorites? Like Ice Cream and Chocolate Cake ?

Of course! Jesus ate after His resurrection - grilled fish on the beach, then dinner with some of His disciples in Emmaus. Rev. 22:2 speaks of the tree of life, which bears a different fruit every month. The Promised Land is one flowing with milk and honey. I never got particularly excited about that (milk without cookies?), until I read that milk is the most perishable of all foods, and honey is the least perishable of all foods. Theologians pretty much agree that this is a sort of allegory, one which means that we'll enjoy the entire gamut of foods from the most perishable to the least perishable and everything in between! I collect cookbooks; I probably have over 500. I enjoy looking through them - either searching for a recipe or just for the pleasure of it. One day I was leafing through a cookbook where all the recipes are based on tropical fruits. I read that there are over 600 - that's SIX HUNDRED - varieties of mango alone! Can you imagine? God didn't say, "Let Us make mango." Oh no....He created a whole lot of different kinds of mango! I just had to stop and praise Him, and told Him it was a good thing we have eternal life, because I need forever to make all the things that I want to try, and then make my favorites over and over and over again, as well as create new recipes of my own. I thanked for him all the different foods He's created, all the ingredients to make probably millions of different kinds of combinations. Well, if you're used to having Him around, you'll understand what happened next... So, here I'm thanking Him that He made all these wonderful foods that we can combine to create an almost infinite amount of recipes from...and He laughed! Then He said, "And just think...those are only the ingredients on planet Earth!" Can you imagine? Years ago, it was a big deal to get a new food that was brought back from another country, such as when the Spaniards discovered cocoa and brought it back to Europe. Do you realize....there are TRILLIONS of planets out there....with different kinds of fruits and veggies and who knows what else on each and every one of them! I can't wait!!!!! ;D

"18And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust. 19Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness? 20Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people? 21Therefore the LORD heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel; 22Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation: 23Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven, 24And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven. 25Man did eat angels' food: he sent them meat to the full."-Psalm 78:38-25
The psalmist writing about the exodus and the wandering in the wilderness wrote this passage(the entire chapter is about the exodus). In this portion he speaks about how the people saw moses strike a rock and provided water for them. Why was God so angry at moses for striking it instead of speaking to it? Because it made the people commit idolatry in their hearts. They sought from that time to have moses provide food for them...when God was giving them the food that ANGELS EAT. It was said to taste like honey wafers....mmmmm......honey.

Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst. John 6:35
Jesus is the bread sent from heaven. The angel's food

Another thing the Holy Spirit pointed out to me many years ago - just by its nature, in Heaven everything is better than it is on Earth, even things that are already wonderful here.
Charles Stanley once said something that blesses me every time I think of it: "Heaven is a place where everything is so perfect, that not even God can improve on it." ;D I can't wait!

John 6-
28Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
29Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
30They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?
31Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
32Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
33For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
34Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
35And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

38 Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who was seated at the Lord’s feet, listening to His word. 40 But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me.” 41 But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; 42 but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” Luke 10.
JESUS IS THE BETTER PART...as it says...but the better part of what? WORKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS UNDER THE LAW IS THE MILK OF THE WORD.. JESUS IS THE CHOICE MEAT OF THE WORD..THE GRACE OF GOD..THE BREAD OF LIFE..THE BETTER PART HE IS THE FILET MIGNON offered to all..yet most refuse and cry for the milk(law and works)

No chocolate baydoll, just angelfood cake. Great question though...although I often see myself at the pearly gates and St. Peter refuses to let me in unless I "cook and do dishes". LOL....you'd have to know me well, but that seems to be my life's work. I just hope they bury me with my zester....it's my rized "kitchen gadget" from the other thread.

Well, if the lion shall lie down with the lamb... I'm sure we won't be eating actual meat. It'll probably be nuts, veggies, grains, fruit, etc. BUT... I think that those 'non meat' items will actually taste better than the meat we have now.
So Baydoll... I guess they will have chocolate, as it grows on trees....

I've thought about this for a long time - I hate, hate, HATE that precious animals' have to give up their lives for our food, even though I know it's a foreshadowing of Jesus sacrifice. Since things will again be as they were when God first created the Earth, people and animals will all be vegetarian again, but maybe there will be a new kind of melon that will slice up into something that tastes just like steak. ;D
I love to cook and bank - I'm looking forward to an eternity of making all the things I've always longed to, with someone to cook for, as well as try out all the new ingredients from other planets.
And - best of all - we'll have our glorified bodies that will NEVER GET FAT!!! ;D

You ladies have made me VERY very happy and extremely looking forward to Heaven! ;D I agree with you. I think the food we'll eat in heaven will be so wonderful we won't even miss the foods we've grown used to here. Think about this too, the majority of what we eat now has been stripped of most its nutrients so it doesn't resemble (nor taste) anything like that of its original state back in the Garden of Eden. I bet we are going to be majorly surprised! And as POH mentioned, it will be nice to be able to eat anything we want and not have to worry about gaining weight! Bonus!!! ;D
