Hmmm. I have not heard an invitation given for communion like this. I will need search scripture to see what it says. It started giving me a warm fuzzy feeling, then red flags of warning.
Cowgirl. Ps I am learning to use an I pad and this is the first time I found a place to post. when I find how to enter a new user post I will do it.

Well, unlike some denominations or the RCC there's no ritual for communion set forth in the Bible - I believe it was meant to be a joyful occasion, not a formal ceremony. What lost me on this one was the "We welcome you just as you are - whether you're straight or gay or lesbian...." The Bible does say, "Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils;" and "But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of [that] bread, and drink of [that] cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this cause many [are] weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged." (1 Corinthians) One can't be living a continuously sinful lifestyle (such as homosexuality or being shacked up with someone) and take communion; I gather from this Scripture that doing so could lead to sickness or death. BTW, the United Church of Christ prides itself on being the first denomination to ordain a gay minister and accept gay "marriage." As for new posts, very simple - go to the forum you want to post in (Current events, Apostasy, etc.), and on the top bar, just above the thread titles and where it says, "Subject....Last Post" etc., there's a "New Thread" icon - just click on that.

POH that is what cowgirl was saying to me and we agree with whit what you say about being right with Jesus before taking of bread and wine...I do not think it is formal since they were just sitting down and eating dinner at the very first one

And that's another thing! They did it over dinner; it's called "The Lord's Supper" - so why do churches do it in the morning? I think we're far removed from what it was always intended to be!

My favorite church does it only a few times a year and always on special days and evening....but they will not let me eat my fill

I always understood it as, we eat several times a day.....remember me every time you have a meal, think of me often, remember that my body was broken for you and my blood shed for you....REMEMBER for all time...this important, DO NOT FORGET
So while we have communion at church, we also need to remember every time we sit to eat, not just at church. Short version ...eating is the string we tie around our finger to remember what Jesus did for us. Cowgirl

Red flags, indeed - there was someting about the main speaker that sort of gave me the creeps....although I am unable to recall the exact scripture reference you may recongnize what I am referring to -
as I came to the end of this video I imagined all of these people, thinking themselves as holy and set apart lost in utter bewilderment when the Lord Jesus says to them,
"depart from Me, for I never knew you".
Ouch.
