Baby Formula Shortage Is Getting Worse
PENNY STARR 7 May 202254 The supply chain kinks are taking a toll on parents and their infant children as shortages of baby formula continue and, in fact, the product is one of the most directly impacted on the market. “Since early April, baby formula out of stock rates have soared to 40 percent across the country, according to our analysis,” Ben Reich, CEO of Datasembly, a provider of real-time product pricing, promotions, and assortment data for retailers of Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) brands, told Breitbart News. “Baby formula demonstrated inflationary spikes in July of 2021, and the situation has continued to worsen the first few months of 2022. Inflation, supply chain shortages and product recalls have continued to bring volatility to the category, and continues to be one of the most affected products in the market.” Breitbart News also reached out to some of the CPG retailers and received a response from Matt Blanchette, senior manager for retail communications for CVS Pharmacy. “Following supplier challenges and increased customer demand, we currently have a limit of three baby formula products per purchase in our stores and online,” Blanchette told Breitbart News. “We’re continuing to work with our baby formula vendors to address this issue and we regret any inconvenience this causes our customers.” Datasembly also found that in July 2021, the [Out of Stock Percentage] OOS% moved into the double digits and then started to increase significantly towards the end of November 2021 ,where it went from 11 percent nationwide to 31 precent by the week starting April 3, 2022. For the week starting April 24, there were six states that had baby formula OOS percentages higher than 50 percent: • Iowa, South Dakota, and North Dakota were 50-51 percent. • Missouri was 52 percent. • Texas was 53 percent and Tennessee was 54 percent. • There were 26 states that had 40-50 percent out of stock compared to three weeks ago when there were seven. Five American cities were hardest hit by the shortage for the week starting April 24 of OOS percentages higher than 50 percent: Des Moines & Houston had 50 percent. Memphis & Nashville had 52 percent. San Antonio had 57 percent. People Magazine reported on how the baby formula shortage is affecting parents, including Katie Ruark, who is one of the most vulnerable demographics — babies who have health issues that prevent them from breastfeeding or are in need of a special diet. Ruark’s son depends on a hypoallergenic formula. “We were getting close to the bottom of our can and were going to need formula that evening,” Ruark said in the People report. “My husband went to more than three stores, but there was none of our son’s type of formula in any of the places he looked. We ended up having to dip into his emergency supply at day care that day.” Continued at link

Baby formula stock … has been one of the more affected categories so far in 2022, and one that will continue to demonstrate higher than average out-of-stock levels,” he also said. This is not happening in America. This is happening in Joe Biden’s America. When America is America, these things do not happen. They never happen. This is unprecedented. But in Joe Biden’s America, these things happen because, in Joe Biden’s America, America is not America. Baby formula? We can’t get enough baby formula? What the hell is going on? Well, this is what happens when Democrats are in charge. In the third-world country we call California, the residents cannot get enough water and electricity. Another reason for this baby formula shortage is due to the corporate media. And yet almost nothing is being said about it by the media because it makes Joe Biden look bad. As you may recall, Hunter’s dad promised to fix everything supposedly caused by his predecessor, including the ever-present broken supply chains. Ever since Biden took office, however, everything has gotten worse. Last fall, Biden’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) received a warning from a whistleblower about contamination issues at the Abbott Nutrition baby formula factory in Michigan. The regime had months to act but chose to do nothing instead. “The FDA reacted far too slowly to report this,” said Rep. Rose DeLauro, a Democrat from Connecticut and a “reliably liberal ally,” according to reports. Even DeLauro can see that Biden dropped the ball on this one. DeLauro wrote a letter to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) inspector general demanding an immediate investigation into the contamination incident, which has left many exposed babies sick and dying. We know "The Big Guy" takes a cut of everything he can, which might be why his FDA closed down a major formula producer, and notice that Bill Gates-of-Hell is involved in this venture as well. A cell biologist by training, Strickland wondered if similar technology could be used to culture human milk-producing cells, she tells CNN Business. Strickland had struggled to produce enough breast milk for her first child. "A lot of women are grappling with this," she says. Globally, only one in three babies receives as much breast milk in their first six months as experts recommend, says the World Health Organization. Instead, many parents rely on formula. The scale of the crisis is revealed in the new analysis, which shows that only 43.08 percent of the usual national supply of baby formula is available. In Tennessee, 54.71 percent of the state's usual supply is out of stock; in Delaware the figure is 54.51 percent, and in Texas it is 52.01 percent. The data, from the first week in May, was obtained from Datasembly, which collects real-time data from 11,000 grocery stores nationwide, and calculates the shortages per state. The situation now is likely to be significantly worse, as parents panic-buy supplies and yet more stores run out of the products. Montana and Nevada were also hard-hit by the crisis. On the other end of the scale, Colorado was reporting the fewest problems, with 26.36 percent of the usual supply being out of stock. New Mexico and Indiana were the only other states to have supply outages at less than 30 percent. The problem began earlier this year, when a Michigan-based factory was found to have flouted Food and Drug Administration (FDA) hygiene procedures, and four babies were hospitalized after eating contaminated formula, with one dying. A spokesman for Abbott, which produces formula at the plant, denied that the bacteria had come from their factory. 'After a thorough review of all available data, there is no evidence to link our formulas to these infant illnesses,' the spokesman told DailyMail.com on Wednesday.
