Chili Steak Burgers
1 EGG
1 14.5 OZ. CAN CHILI WITH BEANS
1 LB. GROUND CHUCK (very cold)
3 TBSP. DEHYDRATED ONIONS
Place the ingredients above in a large bowl. Using your hands mix the
ingredients together well. Then add:
1 CUP PANKO BREADCRUMBS
Mix the breadcrumbsin with a spoon until well blended. Put a large
piece of parchment paper down on counter surface. Place mix on it and
pat until it is a little taller than 1/2" high. Using a large circle (bowl)make
large patties about 5” in diameter. (You can shape with hands) Patty
should be larger than your buns or at least equal to.
In a shallow pan or pie place a 1 CUP OF FLOUR. In another shallow
pan or pie plate pour in 1.5 CUPS PANKO CRUMBS.
Lift each patty off counter with a spatula and place in flour. Gently coat
sides and edges. Put in panko and coat well. Reshape patty if needed.
This makes 6 xl 5” dia. Patties. These patties need to sit at least 10
minutes before frying. Patties can be baked in air fryer or oven for easy
handling. Bake at 425 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Air Fryer: Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
TIME IS FOR 1/2-INCH-THICK PATTIES (NO TALLER)
To Fry on Stovetop: Fry in round non-stick skillet on medium
temperature for 3.5-4minutes per side. DO NOT fry on high
temperature or panko will brown too quickly before meat can get done.
If you are worried about flipping or handling in grease, use the oven bake
or air fryer method.
FREEZING: Patties can be frozen. If using frozen patty use the baking
method and increase bake time 10 min. or thaw before frying in skillet.
