Hi everyone, I'm Arlene, also know as PrisonerOfHope and - in the past - funkyhulagirl. I'm originally from New York City, have lived in Hawaii for five years (and still consider it my home), and are currently in Tennessee. I was raised Catholic, but the Holy Spirit led me out of that mess, and for that I'll always be grateful to Him. I don't belong to any denomination - I belong to Jesus, and that's enough. I'm a former Wall Street executive, headhunter, and president and owner of a charter airline. Right now I'm working towards my PsyD in marriage and family counseling. Hobbies include cooking/baking, reading, eschatology, shopping, writing, flying (private pilot), whitewater rafting, and collecting teddy bears and cookbooks. I'm currently Meowmy to 11 precious kitties, one very naughty dog, a possum, and several goldfish. Come on in and tell us about yourselves!

Hi I'm David, also known as wateredseeds. I'm 27, and have been studying the bible since i was little...and eschatology since i was 16. Theologically I'm a dispensationalist, and so I have a somewhat different perspective on things. I believe that the word of God has to trump opinion, and that we should work hard to study and find the truth(2 timothy:2:15).
My family owns a christian bookstore(for just over a year now). I've been in retail for about 10 years, and really like the creative side of retail. I've run or helped run multi-million dollar stores. I'm the resident bible expert(if you're looking for a bible, i can help you find the right one), and expert on eschatology and theology. I'm often asked where I studied, and I just tell them "the word of God". You don't have to have a formal education to understand the word, though i've found that having a formal education often leaves people with biased and unscriptural positions. The most common of which i run into, is the flawed interpretation of Genesis 6(sons of seth and cain view)....when of course the biblical interpretation is that it is talking about angels.
I often challenge people in their theology, and being a dispensationalist i believe in the gap theory. While I don't think it's the most important thing to understand...i do believe it is one of the most misunderstood theories about creationism. After all, most of our theology is shaped by who taught us, not by what the bible actually says. When looking at the scriptures, we have to have an open heart and mind to the truth....and listen for the Holy Spirit to help us understand the truth.
I do video and audio teachings from time to time. And of course i'll share them with whoever is willing to listen. I play the guitar and sing some, although i'm not great at either. I'm married to a beautiful woman, that I love very much.
I love just sitting around talking to people about the bible. I have quite a few people come into my store just to talk with me about the bible. And often times people ask for help understanding certain things. I've run into a lot of people that don't believe in a pre-tribulation rapture of the church. While i wholeheartedly embrace the pre-trib rapture, it baffles me how militant some people are in wanting to squelch the hope of the glorious appearing, and our gathering together unto Him.
"Wherefore comfort one another with these words."-1 Thessalonians 4:18
When speaking of the rapture, we are to comfort each other with these words. Not tear each other down.

Hello everyone! My name is Cheri aka Sasha, and I live just outside Woodstock, NY. (yes....*THAT* Woodstock) with my two rescue kitties, Missy and Bogey-the-Wonder-Cat. I love to cook, (just finished making a banana cream pie for a friend) and I love the beauty of the Catskill Mountains; I see God in nature all the time. (although I will admit, the winters are getting old) I was saved about 9 years ago, came out of the RCC, and have been praising Jesus ever since! My world has never been the same.

Psalm 30:11-12 (New King James Version)
11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, 12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.

Greetings! I am Abe (Abraham John, to be exact. ), with my wife and 2 preteens, somewhere's near Seattle. I grew up in a Catholic family. My mother was a 'mommie dearest' (ESFJ) Catholic, complete with Mary shrines, statues, candles, etc. When I was 10 years old, I begged my parents to stay up and watch "In Search of Noah's Ark", and when I saw the depiction of the ark based on George Hagopian, something stirred in my spirit, and I knew it was true. At the age of 21, some born again believers challenged me with scriptures conflicting with Catholic doctrine. Since I loved the Lord, I had no problem studying the bible, and as time went on, left Catholic paganism for evangelical denominations. They grew me quickly, but were more social than intellectual, so I now study independently, with a wide variety of podcasts and sermons to keep me grounded in the Word. I've had 2 visions. In the first, I saw Christ on the cross, just before He died. He said nothing, but 'pulled' sins out of me. In the second, I was taken before the throne, and I saw God and Jesus sitting on the throne, and the Lamb's book of life. If there is interest, I can post details in a dreams/visions thread.. My favorite pastor is Jim Mclarty www.gcaarchive.com/index.shtml and I highly recommend his podcasts for solid doctrine. Career wise, I've got a degree in Electrical Engineering, but spent most of my time writing computer programs to analyze radio data from cell phone towers. I'm always looking for problems in the system, and need to ensure my data and results are accurate, since a lot of money rides on the results. So, my approach to the bible is much like Chuck Missler's. I apply the 'scientific method' to the Word, simple, logical but still allowing faith to have priority. But I have little patience for those who are deceived out of laziness or hubris. Anyway, my analytical mindset is always looking for cracks in the foundation, but this should not be taken as an attack, but more out of a desire to keep people from hurting themselves. I lean pre-trib rapture, but concede there is no clear evidence that points to the exact time of the rapture. I am however, constantly looking, because I believe we will know it before it happens, and it will not be a secret event. Oh, and I also like to draw. My dream is to create a graphic novel, steam punk adventure to be exact. But bible studies have taken up most of my free time... I do hope there is something equivalent or better in our eternal lives...

Hi Abe...nice to meet you and thank you for the link to your favorite pastor! This is one of the reasons I joined this forum! It is so difficult to find good solid teaching in our area. Our favorite pastor is Jon Courson from Searchlight ministries....he is of Calvary Chapel persuasion and teaches verse by verse. he is preaching through Revelation on Wednesday Nights right now...hmmmm....maybe we should have a section for good solid bible teaching pastors!

I can't tell you how happy I am to be here at this new forum. I can't wait to see what blessings Yashua has in store for us here.
Some of you I know already from a former unmentionable forum which I used to spend a great deal of time on. But that's behind me now, I'm shaking the dust off my feet and moving forward with great anticipation!
My name is Shannon. I've been married to my husband for nearly 17 years now. We have no children of our own, but I have a stepson who is nearly 20 years old. We have 3 cats, and from what I'm told that's just enough for a crazy cat lady starter kit. We live in eastern Washington state.
I was born again at the age of 12, but I kinda went off track for a while in my teen years and dabbled in all manner of drugs, alcohol and occult things. Things got pretty bad for me for a while there, but God always had His hand on me. I see that now in retrospect.
I moved to Seattle when I turned 20 years old, lived there for 8 years and met my husband. Right around the time I met him, I rededicated my life to the Lord and though I've stumbled, I've never regretted that decision.
We moved to eastern Washington in '98 and have been here ever since. My life hasn't been nearly so exciting as some of the others here whom I've read so far, but I hope I'll be able to contribute something valuable to this forum. I don't always agree with everyone, but I believe it's possible to agree to disagree with love.
I firmly believe that critical thinking skills are imperative for studying scriptures in these last days, and should be applied to those we look to for teaching as well. The bible tells us teachers need to be held to a higher standard, and that's why character is an important indicator of godly men. We shall know a tree by it's fruit. There are wolves everywhere, and we must continually be testing things against scripture to see if they be true.
I look forward to exploring the deep mysteries of God with you, and hopefully making a few new friends in the process.
Maranatha!

Christ found me in 1994 and I was saved by a radical conversion . Previously I could have been called an atheist. I have been married (hubby is not yet saved) 26 years and have 2 children a son 25 and a daughter 20. My geographical location is waaaaaay up north and past a border. I am a stay at home mom and STILL don't have enough hours in a day! I love the Lord with all my heart and looking forward to fellow shipping with like minded Holy Spirit filled children of God.

What?!?!?!? No signup bonus! That's ok, I'm just glad there's someplace that I can post all this crazy stuff that's going down. Every day, my jaw hits the floor. I can't believe that everyone isn't seeing it, but then not everyone has the spiritual eyes open. Glad that's not the case here, Amen?
